McCarthy will be there at #11. I watched the NFL Stock Exchange last night and Trevor Sikkema and Connor Rogers have a high 2nd Round Grade on JJ. Accounting for the positional value of QBs that elevates McCarthy to around a mid-1st Round Grade. Will the Broncos or Raiders want to give up capital to move UP for a guy that slots to around where they are already picking given that they also have a lot of holes just like the Vikings?
Where JJ SHOULD go and where he will are two totally different things is what it comes down to. Its still very early in the grand scheme of things so we all are speculating, Levis was a top 5 pick around this time last year and same with Malik Willis. Sometimes it actually happens like Richardson last year. Those kids on stock exchange are knowledgeable about prospects but they have no sources within the league and aren't plugged in. They are bootleg Bruglers. Jeremiahs mock the day before the draft or of will tell where JJ stock really is. And he just released one today where JJ goes 8th.
First of all the first dominoes are Kirk and to an extent Fields depending on what that said team gives up for Justin. If that knocks off the Falcons that is a huge plus for us. We should all be rooting hard for the Falcons to sign Kirk. I think the Broncos are serious trade up contenders, to one pass us and Sean Payton isnt getting any younger or patient. I have a hard time believing hes going to just stay put unless hes in love with Nix. Everyone knows we are almost a lock in to go QB early if Kirk walks which isn't a good thing for us. There are just so many variables to this thing, it starts with FA firsts, then the Patriots pick, Giants possibly, and then Falcons. There are way too many things that need to happen first before we have any idea whose in the running for a QB in the draft.
The reason I think McCarthy steam is legit is because his age first of all, WR weapons werent great, offense they ran, and he shined when called upon. Hes basically the opposite of Bo Nix. Hes young and his downfall is the system he played in, but at the same time he only lost 1 game. Nix didnt excel in his first system, but when things become easy and he was older he ran the system well running dinks and dunks. Thats a red flag to me. Sure at the same time you could say why should he get punished for exceling in what was called, its the Hendon Hooker theory all over again. Its all a gamble. Im much more comfortable betting on the younger kid who excelled when called upon but is getting punished for a run first scheme that first of all worked, and they only lost 1 game in his career. Its a gamble but they all are, your betting on his traits and willingness to be great. And he doesn't hurt hell test well and is a pretty good athlete. Im no scout but thats the way I see it.
