To further expand on my thinking of Kirk. The Vikings were absolutely right in bringing him in because they were that close at the time. The part that went sideways was when they treated him as a franchise QB. As the rest of the team fell off it made less sense to keep him when it became clear that Rick and Zim weren't able to keep the rest of the roster up to snuff. Let's be honest, when was the last time the Vikings roster was strong enough to say they would be a QB away?

Oh really? So here is a perfect example of how incorrect you are. The Texans had the #2 overall pick last year and took cj stroud. They also moved back into top 3 and grabbed the de. They also changed front offices and HC/coaches. They also played in one of the worst divisions in football. Follow up to this past season and they went from having the top 2 overall pick to winning a playoff game. Well gee wiz. What a coincidence. The falcons have a bunch of talent on offense and an ok defense. They were being coached by a buffoon who no longer is their HC. They also play in one of the weakest divisions. So see all these parallels? Add cousins and bam they are in contention for the division and should be favored. Again if we are talking about competing for a sb well that is a different story. But the point is competing for playoffs vs having a top 10 pick.

That's Atlanta's decision to make, it doesn't matter to me. Atlanta can go rot for all I care.

I'm a Vikings fan, What matters to me is that the Vikings are not a QB away if you look at this roster. A 36 year old QB coming off a blown Achilles asking for 2 years guaranteed of massive money before you can even see how he'll play with live fire is not a wise investment for the Vikings.

If Atlanta thinks so that's their deal, their team, I don't care.

I agree completely that we are too far away for it to make sense to bring Kirk back especially with his remaining dead money. It’s nothing at you personally but it’s wildly amusing the narratives that get created and propagated about players. Especially Kirk.

I remember chuckling at the narrative that the team was a QB away in 2018 and that was obviously completely wrong. For some reason the media or someone is trying to sell the same song and dance about Atlanta and they are way ahead with farther away than the Vikings were then

I’m not wrong. You clearly stated they were more than a QB away because they traded up and had to get another player they were short on so right there you defeated your own argument.

Add to that they made the playoffs but that’s not aQB away when it refers to contending for a championship which is the level the term has been used for. If the goal is simply contending for a player spot then Kirk had that covered his whole time here. Maybe they didn’t make the playoffs every year but they were in the hunt nearly every year he was healthy

That’s the pint though dude. Arthur blank their 81 year old owner wants to make the playoffs this year, not wait to see if their potential young qb can help get them there in a couple years. We aren’t talking about a championship but the playoffs. And we aren’t talking about the Vikings we are talking about the falcons.

I would agree that the similarities make that assertion laughable. There's a simplistic perspective about the Falcons that says, "Drake London + Kyle Pitts + Bijan Robinson should equal a dominant offense, they must just need a QB to feed those guys the ball". But 29-year-old Cousins joined a team that had Diggs, Thielen, and Rudolph in their prime and Dalvin Cook coming back from injury. The Falcon skill players are not so much better than the Vikings' of 2018 that a 35-year-old Cousins will succeed with them...especially since the Falcons had the 13th-worst defense (in points) in the league last year. Why wouldn't the Falcons draft the best QB left at #8?

Because they have a new coach and their owner wants the playoffs. They also play in the weakest division in the NFL. With cousins there is a good chance they win the division even if baker stays in Tampa.

JOE NELSON - McShay: 'I'd be shocked' if Justin Fields isn't traded to Falcons, Steelers or Vikings

ESPN's Todd McShay believes the Falcons, Steelers and Vikings are the three "most likely" teams that could trade for Fields.

"Justin will get moved. Kirk Cousins is probably going to have to get moved first. We'll have to see where he lands. But I think the three most likely – and I'd be shocked if it's not one of these teams – to land Justin Fields are Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Minnesota – and maybe in that order," McShay said Tuesday on The Ryen Russillo Podcast.

McShay thinks a third-round pick this year and maybe a conditional third- or fourth-round pick in the 2025 draft will be enough to acquire Fields from the Bears.

If McShay is right and Fields winds up with the Falcons, Steelers or Vikings, then we're really talking about a two-team race since Cousins likely ends up with the Falcons or Vikings.

However, Twin Cities sports insider Darren Wolfson said Tuesday on SKOR North's Minnesota Sports with Mackey & Judd that he's not hearing anything connecting the Vikings to Fields.

"From a very reliable source – I am reporting this – there has not been any dialogue to this point, as of Monday night, between the Vikings and Bears," Wolfson said. "I cannot connect any dots to them have any interest, legit interest, in Justin Fields."

Wolfson went on to say that recent reports linking the Vikings to Trey Lance, Jacoby Brissett and Sam Darnold is legitimate.

The Vikings in the past have had trade interest in Trey Lance. So this regime has had interest in Trey Lance so we can connect those dots," Wolfson said. "The Sam Darnold steam from a few weeks ago, that is legit. Especially now with Josh McCown on staff, a former teammate of Sam's with the Jets. Sam Darnold absolutely is a name that makes sense."

Fields isnt coming here, literally 0% chance its honestly lazy reporting. Old regime tried to get him so no connections and the bears would never trade him in division. Can I please stop seeing that.

If Kirks back at this point unless its a 1 year deal, Ill lose all respect for this ownership, GM and coach. The guy is the ultimate marketer and schemer trying to play this franchise and bully them at this point. I know its bad for business for to come out and say your moving on from him, they want good PR. I think thats why Kwesi is bad cop while Kevin has played good cop, Im sure Kevin is actually genuine about Kirk as well, but hes never claimed he wants Kirk longterm. I think that is key, hes always just said I want him back, to which I think most can agree for 24'. That stuff yesterday is clearing from Cousins camp trying to get Minnesota to up the offer and bend to them. It makes me sick honestly. The Greatest Negotiator on Turf is at it again. Everything he, his wife, heck even the family dog is saying right now is specifically aimed at Terry Fontenot and the Atlanta Falcons for the sole purpose of getting 1 more guaranteed year than they've offered so far.

Frankly, I'm sick of the whole shtick. He knows Minnesota will only guarantee X number of years (likely 1). He knows Atlanta only wants to guarantee X so far (likely 2). Cousins and his camp will try to play both sides against each other until one of them budges.

My guess is that he'd prefer to stay in Minnesota for 2 years guaranteed so he doesn't have to take his kids out of school and move. Unless he can get Atlanta to give him 3 years guaranteed.

Hopefully Kwesi sticks to the offer that's been on the table for a while now.

I am not trying to be mean, well maybe I am lol. What chance did we pass up. They arrogant acting like PAC Man Patty or something. Miss out on getting talked down to a trap. We almost there either way I can’t wait until clarity comes. So I know if we mean business or not. Speaking of human beings 6 years tells me the same thing. F his offer!!! I would lower it or take it off the table. This stuff irritates me. All I can picture is Kirk laughing at his to his wife like the Jets in 2018. Some QBs make their name and fame in February hoisting a Lombardi, and Kirk Cousins does his Super Bowls in March. I dont want this guy back even in 24'. Id rather go thru a season of Nick Mullens throwing 30 TDs and 30 INTs. HOLD THE LINE KWESI!!!!

My boy Loose telling the real like usual. It’s obvious the game being played. It hard to stomach they better not cave. I won’t be a happy camper and like on a gangsta mob movie. Don’t want me there because I sticks it in . I go in for esophagus and snap clavicles 😂I’m done playing these my boys let him go. This the biggest decision almost ever for us.
