Bravo, excellent breakdown. I don't think Kirk is a bad QB, I just don't think he's the right QB for where the Vikings are at this point(for the last few years if I'm honest).
To further expand on my thinking of Kirk. Hindsight 20/20 I think Kirk was ideally suited to be high end mercenary QB, his skillset and abilities would make him the perfect QB for the team that is the proverbial "QB away". He's a rock solid reliable top 10-12 QB who can drive a great car like a boss, but he's not one who's going to lift a subpar or mediocre team up around them and will them into legit contention like a Rodgers, Brady, Manning or Mahomes. K
The Vikings were absolutely right in bringing him in because they were that close at the time. The part that went sideways was when they treated him as a franchise QB. As the rest of the team fell off it made less sense to keep him when it became clear that Rick and Zim weren't able to keep the rest of the roster up to snuff. Let's be honest, when was the last time the Vikings roster was strong enough to say they would be a QB away?
A team picking in the top 8 isn’t a “QB away” from anything 😆
Oh really? So here is a perfect example of how incorrect you are. The Texans had the #2 overall pick last year and took cj stroud. They also moved back into top 3 and grabbed the de. They also changed front offices and HC/coaches. They also played in one of the worst divisions in football. Follow up to this past season and they went from having the top 2 overall pick to winning a playoff game. Well gee wiz. What a coincidence. The falcons have a bunch of talent on offense and an ok defense. They were being coached by a buffoon who no longer is their HC. They also play in one of the weakest divisions. So see all these parallels? Add cousins and bam they are in contention for the division and should be favored. Again if we are talking about competing for a sb well that is a different story. But the point is competing for playoffs vs having a top 10 pick.
