In 2020 drafting Love or Hurts became an impossibility when they extended Kirk for two seasons.
I would argue that for all the signs we're seeing that it's working for the Packers now, at the time it was the wrong move and contributed to the falling out between Rodgers and the team. Granted Kirk isn't like that as a person, but if you have that level of QB you need to be sinking assets into going for it rather than using a high pick on a QB, and they traded up if I recall. I would argue stuff like that is why Green Bay has only 2 Super Bowl wins during 30 straight years of Hall of Fame QB play.
For this team, it doesn't make sense. This team is not a contender and they're not close. The best case is a one and done wildcard spot and missing out on one of the better QB drafts. This team isn't in position to one foot in one foot out this thing. They need to commit to a path and deal with the consequences that come with it. You can't play scared and the front office shouldn't build the team that way either. Either go full Rams and try to break open the window, or let the missed opportunities go and build for a better tomorrow. Anything else is just wasting time.
