QB options for 2024?

I am a lot smarter. That's why I started charting how many easy read or quick throws O'Connell started using to make it easier on a journeyman QB. Until the final game of the season I never got higher than 5.

We're talking TE chip and releases into the flat for an easy pitch and catch. Swing passes to RBs. Quick Game out of the Shotgun to reduce pressure. WR screens. Draws. Boots. Waggles. There are many things you call to help a backup QB.

It's pretty obvious many on here don't have the Redzone. Half the Teams in the League were starting backups. And using the plays above to help them out. Not Minnesota. It was all Intermediate Passing Game or bust.

So Dobbs sucks but has been rostered by 10 Teams. None of those GMs must know what they are doing, right? And I distinctly remember you being on the 'start Hall' bandwagon. But now he's a bust?

There were worse backups playing across the League. The difference is their OCs had the willingness to adjust their Playcalling to get whatever they could out of them. O'Connell inarguably did not.

Do you not listen to the lovefest Kevin gives Kirk every time he's interviewed?

Again. Before the season Kwesi almost 100% viewed Kevin as a guy that could develop a QB. He even tried to move up to get Anthony Richardson, who could not possibly be a more different type of player than Cousins.

Kirk goes down and O'Connell keeps calling all the exact same plays despite 2 of the 3 backups having plus running skills.

KAM isn't stupid. He saw his HC running the exact same Offense after his Statue Pocket Passer went down. Now he knows he needs to get his HC a Statue Pocket Passer. This is information he didn't have last offseason. Or else he would never have sniffed around Richardson.

There is no better Statue Pocket Passer available than Kirk. Who already knows the complex system. And is coveted by the biggest star on the Team who also happens to be one of the biggest stars in Football.

Here's another tidbit. Shirtless Kirko and his son blowing the horn at the final home game. And the crowd going absolutely bonkers. That's not something Kwesi had in his memory banks last offseason.

Negotiations aren't static. The circumstances surrounding them as they tried to reach a deal they could both accept last year are not the same circumstances that surround their negotiations this year. And the same applies to JJ and Hunter and their negotiations.

I negotiate for a living. It's never as black and white as people think it is looking in from the outside.

FSU is overlooking Kirks #1 want, playing in the NFL MONEY. Its what drives Kirky Boy.Whatever team will pay Kirky the most will have him as their QB. ANd Kam will have his hands full paying everyone, even without Kirky.

It’s been well documented the Vikings were wanting Kirk for 24 but without guarantees for 25. Nothing anyone has said has made it seem any different right now. Anything could happen still, I just don’t think the positive culture guys saying generic positive stuff in an end of season presser is newsworthy.

Nick Mullens(the backup QB of the team) in the three games he started with the team in the playoff hunt against no team resting starters or fishy stuff:

78/113 69% CMP, 370 YPG, 6 TDs

The defense crumbled and Nick makes some terrible decisions so the team went 0-3 in those games.

Lumping Hall and a guy picked up at Halloween time into it feels ehh to me.

I think you can make an argument the passing offense has shown to be good regardless and would be a reason they won’t go above their price or outside their structure in contract negotiations.

I'd agree with that. If that contract voids he's gone. The only way he would come back is if he has absolutely 0 offers for any amount of money and the Vikes can scoop him up for pennies, which will not happen.

Things seem to be in the same place as this time last year. Kirk wants a multi year deal with a certain amount of guaranteed money and the Vikings want him back, but on a flexible and cost effective deal that they can easily get out of when they want out. Kwesi and Kirk are saying the same things as last year just using different words.

Yup, get a rookie and throw him to the wolves and then b*tch when he doesn’t work out. Standard NFL practice.
