Until we go through the process of figuring out that KOC isn’t the HC who can coach at a championship level the rest is really academic.
I was one who didn’t want to hire Harbaugh but I admit I was wrong and he would have had a much more like chance of getting us to the big dance than KOC.
Why didn't you want us to hire Jim Harbaugh, and more importantly, what would Jim have done differently than Kevin O'Connell to get us to the big dance? I'm all ears.
Despite living only 20 minutes from So-Fi Stadium I never imagined the Vikings were going to hire Kevin O'Connell as our HC in 2022. He wasn't on my so-called radar. I didn't know who he was really and I wanted us to hire Dabol or maybe Pederson at the time. As it stands now, I'm good with the O'Connell hiring and want to see him coach the team for the 2024 season. O'Connell is only in his second season with us and so is Kwesi. For those of you who feel that O'Connell should be fired, I ask you this, why the F would you want to start all over again with a new HC when our current coach hasn't even finished his second season with us yet? What's the login in that?
I liked Demeco Ryans but didn’t mind the KOC choice (wouldn’t have minded harbaugh either).
I want to add that not only is he in his second season, he has overall produced more total wins than expected given the talent (9.5 year one, 8.5 this year). He’s at 20 and may just get another one or two. Some will point out regression but that was expected given we were lucky last season. We are still right on par with this years projection despite injuries/bad luck/turnover/drops (to even out the good luck in said areas last year). So we overproduce when extremely lucky and still manage to basically meet expectations with horrible luck.
People talk about becoming one of the horrible franchises due to trying to rebuild the roster and risking a down season. Well what do you think happens if you start firing coaches after they beat expectations given the circumstances/talent they are given? Do people think top level coaches will want to come to a team in flux, needing talent, that keeps blaming and firing coaches when they aren’t the real problem?
