As tempting as it is to blame O'Connell...honestly, with the way Dobbs played tonight to think you could put the ball in his hands after the Fields fumble is craziness. He came inches away from throwing another pick on the 3rd down pass to Powell...which probably would have been a good thing because the Vikings would have got the ball left with plenty of time for him to throw another.
Fact is, with a decent punt by Wright, Chicago has to go another 10, 15 yards, with a great punt, another 20...but he has been awful, all year, and getting someone to try out during the bye would not be the worst idea.
Flores? So aggressive for 58 minutes, but his 2 minute defensive strategies are mind boggling? It isn't a prevent...a prevent forces short passes to the middle of the field...it doesn't leave gaping holes for the single, solitary playmaker the Bears have. But, he stops blitzing and let's a QB who is constantly on the verge of wetting himself just camp out with all the time in the world. I don't understand.
I hate this team right now. I sincerely believe they are 8-4 right now with Kirk Cousins. I sincerely believe they are 7-5 right now with a half of Nick Mullens.
I pray that the coaching staff takes this bye week and reevaluate what they want this offense to be, with Jefferson (hopefully) returning.
If you want thus offense to be one that caters to Jefferson's skills, Addison, Hockenson? Than Mullens has to be the QB.
If you mobility and a running threat? Jaren Hall has to be the guy.
Josh Dobbs has turned the ball over 9 times in 3.75 games. Nine times. It is truly a credit to the defense that the Vikings have only allowed FGs or nothing on all those TOs, and that won't continue. It was a cute story, it's run its course, and now you need to think of the other 52 guys in that locker room. Josh Dobbs has not helped you win either of the last two games, and has been a pretty big factor in losing them. His time is done.
