And I’m not convinced it’s that the backs are so bad but possibly that the coaches are not designing and calling plays that have a high likelihood of success against the defenses we are facing. There are definitely times you see a RB take the wrong lane but often there just isn’t a lane to choose and KOC should be dissecting defenses and finding areas to attack. I don’t see that happening.

It's the well-documented scheme difference. Minnesota ran Outside Zone Blocking during Cook's entire tenure until O'Connell arrived. And drafted smaller, more athletic O-Linemen like Bradbury, Cleveland and O'Neill to run it.

Only Ingram profiles as a fit for Inside Zone Blocking & Power/Gap designs. And he was known for being a much better pass blocker than run blocker in college. Darrisaw has the anchor and skills to thrive in any scheme.

Mattison profiles better for the IZB & P/G schemes but the O-Line can't get holes opened with any consistency because they're not strong enough for the system.

And even when they do get it going Kevin goes back to throwing anyway. The last few games they've started to routinely crack a hundred yards but the Scorpion can't ignore his nature and goes straight back to chucking it down the field even when his QB can't hit the broad side of a barn.

I wasn't aware that I twisted the meaning. I was just trying to post something positive about Mr. Chandler and those plays.

KOC like many coaches has favorites and Mattison is one of his guys If anyone cant see that Chandler makes better cuts and and is quicker to the hole and has a huge advantage in speed then they are either blind or in denial . If Chandler had gotten the carries that Mattison did all season I feel pretty safe to say he could have been knocking on a 1000 yard season and maybe 5 -10 TD's . Chandler should get 15 to 20 carries in these last three games .

So I guess no ball security, no vision or burst was better for a rb. You need to block to but you can work around it some. A rb has to be able to be a rb first and foremost. Master the basics should be a must.

He prioritized that because he wants to pass every play. I like passing but you have to be able to run too. He want us soft as grapes. He want all these 7 step drops but can’t handle calls on short grind plays for a yard.

I mean, Ham is a much better blocker than Mattison, and KOC knew that didn't make Ham the better RB.
