Solid post and I agree that if you have a very good team acquiring a veteran QB is one way to have success. What if I also said that doesn't mean going with a rookie QB is a bad idea while you are building up to that type of roster though? What if whether or not the rookie you drafted won the SB we look at the success the team had after taking advantage of the cheaper contract? Let's take a look at it from that perspective instead of only if the team won with the highly drafter rookie...

As you mention, the Chiefs and Mahomes worked out. In 2016 the Eagles decided to go with Wentz with the 2nd pick in the draft and stay cheap at the position to have resources to build around it (I believe both Alshon and Smith were FA's signed in 2017 along with Foles and maybe oline). As you show they won with Foles but Wentz had been mentioned for MVP prior to injury and they were doing great with him too until that late injury. Either way the strategy of drafting a rookie QB and building the roster up worked here even if that rookie wasn't the SB winner. While I agree with you about the rams acquiring a veteran, it doesn't necessarily exclude them from this perspective. The rams drafted Goff right above Wentz in 2016 and built up the talent on the roster making the SB but failing. They then signed him after his rookie deal to remain competitive (and made the playoffs). When they thought that wasn't going to be enough they made an all in push for Stafford using that former high QB pick as part of the trade. It was their all in push after going the rookie QB route that finally put them over the top but they had initially taken that approach. Lastly while Seattle was already good as you mention they did take advantage of rookie contracts for QB to keep said talent and won on Wilsons.

So really we are talking about Chiefs and Mahomes, Eagles and Wents, Rams and Goff, Wilson and Seattle all saving cap on the QB position (3 of the 4 being high round picks too) and it leading to SB's for their franchise in some way along the path of building around them. Then you can talk about recently Burrow or Hurts and making the SB with that approach too. That's covering every single SB won on your list except for Tom Brady and Payton Manning two legends (not often the opportunity to sign that level comes along, even though Manning clearly fell off by his). 

So while I agree acquiring a veteran QB can work if you have a good team and make a push, drafting a QB and building around them often can work whether or not you already have a decent roster in place. I think we still have some holes to fill especially on the defensive side myself and can also work on rb/oline offensively too and 3rd receiver to replace Osborn possibly too. Given that we probably don't have that great team I think the best option forward is drafting one and staying cheap at that position for the next 4 years. Take full advantage of what that brings by making a push around him (especially come 25/26 as we no longer have dead $ either). If we get the next Mahomes or even Hurts/Burrow/Allen that's pretty cool. If not but we get the rest of the roster right by paying up elsewhere (like LT/WR/TE and then maybe add DE/CB or something down the road) then at least we will be in position to make that aggressive move. Philly and Rams both show in different ways how it works even if you don't get that long term QB you want to keep forever. That's why I think we should take that route moving forward too. We have the pieces on offense, we will have cap in 25 and beyond for defense. If we hit the QB great, if not we can go the route you describe and look for that vet (maybe even use our pick as trade bait).

Lets not underestimate how much an offense can make a defense look good by simply moving the chains and controlling the clock. When the defense isn't on the field, it's giving up ZERO yards and points.

See I’m sick of the QB bs. If the team win they ride the QBs Johnson like it’s all him then when things go bad it’s everyone else fault. If you want so much money then you going to get the blame too. See they want the praise but it works both ways and should at their price. If you want double everybody else pay comes responsibility and that is to lead people to the promise land. Or else you a failure goes with the price.
