Nobody says there isn't, but that's probably the best way. In order to find a Brock Purdy, you not only have to have someone like that on the roster, but then you also have to have everything fall in place too (injury etc), or have an organization that's smart enough to see the 7th round pick is better than the 3rd overall pick. Imagine if the Vikings were in that situation. Purdy never sees the light of day and they'd keep forcing Trey Lance or Jimmy G down our throat. Then they would've traded for Sam Bradford if one of them did get injured.
The Sloter thing has been beaten to death and it's played itself out, but even if he never ended up being that guy, the Vikings never even bothered to find out. That's the thing that bothers me with this franchise. Purdy's career probably would've ended on the bench if the Vikings had him. My whole point with Sloter was, those are the "other methods" of finding the "next guy". We don't see 6th or 7th round picks, or even UDFA's pan out in this league partly because they just don't get the same opportunity as a 1st or 2nd round pick. Teams aren't willing to invest the same kind of time in them.
Jaren Hall is just sitting there waiting for his chance. If this losing continues do ya think he'll get a shot?
