Okay, I know everyone's been thinking it, and wanting to talk about it, because it's sprinkled throughout various threads. Uncle and I initially chatted about it as soon as Rodgers went down, and the speculation has only grown since then...
And the person probably most "in the know" about all of it:
Here are some of my recent thoughts on the topic:
But I think Cousins wants to find his home for the next 2-3 years, not just until Rodgers comes back. lol.Everyone else might need a few more weeks, but waiting a few more weeks could diminish the value, and you open the door for someone else to get into the mix. And if the Jets end up 1-4, they might not want to do it anymore. You have to strike while the iron is hot. And it doesn't matter what Cousins wants. The Vikings have leverage. Besides, Rodgers isn't coming back anyway. A 39yo isn't coming back from an achilles tear no matter how much dolphin sex he's listening to. The Jets are in the perfect win-now window for someone like Cousins . Can our useless franchise just one time be on the positive end of something like this?

It takes two to tango, my friend.
It's easy to throw out hypothetical trade ideas, but there is nothing that suggests that A) the Vikings are giving up on their season or B) the Jets are even interested.
As I said, let's see what happens over the next two or three weeks. If Babyface Wilson struggles, and we still suck, then maybe. But now? Naaah.
Also, it sort of does matter what Cousins wants, with his no-trade clause and all.
Rodgers will be back next season. No doubt about it. I just think Cousins is looking for something more long-term, to finish his career.
That's where I'm at with it! I think it's a fluid situation. So far, we are "buyers" and are trying to right the ship. But in a few weeks ... ? Who knows? Time will tell. But as of now, I don't even think it's a consideration. But if the wheels totally fall off? I think you have to pick up the phone. But I also don't know if this is something Cousins would want for himself or his family.
Lots of moving parts here. But if we go 0-3? 1-4? ...then what?
But, while we're here, let's also take a look at our guy so far this season:
You get the point. It's Kirktober early this year!
“I think it’s worth a conversation. If you’re the Vikings, I think it’s a phone call that you have to take. What are (teams) willing to give you for a guy who, ultimately, he might not be in your plans?”

During an appearance on the Up & Adams show with Kay Adams, Rob Gronkowski made the following bold prediction:
“For the Vikings, if they go 0-3, there's going to be some serious change at the quarterback position. They have a good team, but they can't finish, they can't win games. Their head coach is going to be staying there, he's only in his second year, but I feel like Kirk Cousins will be shipped out. Somebody's going to want to trade for him that's a playoff contender. He's a good player, he's putting up the stats, he's playing well. Kirk Cousins will get shipped out, and they'll be billing for the future, hopefully tank for Caleb Williams out of USC.”

And the person probably most "in the know" about all of it:
“For everybody who wants to debate, should the Jets go trade for Kirk Cousins,” analyst Tom Pelissero said in an NFL Network video:
“What's going on with the Vikings? They're making moves right now. They signed Dalton Reisner this week to shore up the offensive line. They go out and they trade for Cam Akers to be a combo platter in the backfield with Alexander Mattison.
“Also, let's remember Kirk Cousins has a no-trade clause and is on pace to throw for like 6,000 yards. This is not a team that's going to blow it up in Week 3. Everybody just slow it down a little bit here.”

I get that it's a hot topic, but it really depends on the next few weeks. But if we're 0-3 or 1-4? It's time to consider it...
