I think there's a lot of dog piling going on. I get the concern over some of the picks. Even there some of them are improving and showing a bit more, but still have a ways to go.
The stuff about OMG, He's just gonna get ripped off is just BS. The first trade with Detroit wasn't great, I wasn't happy with it, but it also wasn't Marsellus Wallace in the basement of a pawn shop either. His other trades have been fine in terms of value.
The crap about him trying to trade out and not take Addison until Kevin forced him to make the pick is garbage too. It's one small snippet of video taken out of context. I have not heard or seen one thing that backs that up. Nothing about "this deal was offered", It's bull$"t, it's confirmation bias. He was a GM working the phones to see if there was a worthwhile offer. Addison has been good, but was not some Randy Moss can't miss, can't believe he fell this far prospect. He did what a good GM should do, saw if there was a good enough offer, found there wasn't and made the pick the coach wanted.
I know some give crap over Hockenson's contract, but that's how it goes. The next guy up resets the market quite often even if they're not the true best in the league. It's the cost of doing business.
I understand the skepticism, I'm kinda there. The hyperbolic fatalism is overkill though.
I still like this chemistry over the previous toxicity and fully expected growing pains. The biggest problem I seen with some fans was not doing a total teardown rebuild after the changing of the guards. I think some like me think that was never an option from ownership. It's hard for me to blame a guy for doing what his bosses ordered. Needed a better draft last year regardless. I'm not sure the bosses ordered all that movement to come up so empty.
I 100% believe he got the job because he was willing to try to get something out of the roster Zim and Rick left behind. Poles was their guy, then he dropped out and signed with the Bears where he proceeded to demolish the roster in and effort to gain assets. I believe that was his pitch to the Wilf's. Toss all the old overpriced vets, ditch Kirk and trade everyone worth something not named Darrisaw or Jefferson. The Wilf's probably fell out of their chairs and had an anxiety attack at the what if's and told him no chance in hell.
There's a part of me that believes that they want Kwesi to ride this roster Dr. Strangelove style until it blows the hell up and there's nothing left so they have cover to rebuild because it all fell to crap.
