To make it? Sure. If Hurts regresses or gets injured it's basically the 9ers with who knows who at QB, the Cowboys and the Lions. The latter two haven't exactly racked up a lot of postseason success lately, though both have a better shot on paper than Minnesota.
To win it? Hell no. KC and Cincinnati are a cut above any Team in the NFC save for Philly.
1) Mahomes (obviously)
2) TE - Travis Kelce (assuming no fall off for one of the oldest non-QBs in the league)
3) DL - Chris Jones (As solid as they come)
4) C - Creed Humphry
5) G - Joe Thuney
6) ??
7) ??
They lost their LT, RT, WR1 and WR3 from offense. Their defense was good enough, but also lost multiple starters (DE, S). Any they didn't have a ton of money to replace these guys.
Don't fall into the trap of assuming that last year will be the same as this year when every team faces turnover, some significant.
Fall into a trap? KC has the greatest QB of this new generation. A HOF TE. A Head Coach who is an Offensive Mastermind, which Kevin is anything but....so far. Spags got hellu production out of a bunch of Rookies last year that should only get better and his Defenses seemingly always perform better in the Playoffs than in the regular season. They're deep at RB. Chris Smith is the 2nd best Interior Pass Rusher of this generation.
The Chiefs major issue is OT. Just like it has been for years. But with Mahomes ability to elude pressure and Reid designing crazy plays they've managed to be in the Superbowl more often than not despite always have issues with OTs and with OT depth.
It's the potential improvement of all those Rookie and young defenders that's scary. Minnesota is projecting play from Asamoah, Evans/Booth, Blackmon, Cine. KC already got that play from kids who know have Superbowl experience under their belts. If that Defense actually becomes consistently good in the regular season watch out.
