He has decent middle of the pack run numbers along the lines of Prescott and Burrow and much better than Stafford who is a statue and Purdy.
This is not true. Kirk's most productive season as a rusher in 2017 he had 49 rush attempts for 179 yards and half of his seasons starting he rushed for under 100 yards. Prescott and Burrow average twice the yards per start rushing than Cousins. Stafford is more of a statue now in his advancing age, but in his prime, he was more of a scrambler than Cousins. Not much more but on 4th and 8 he is enough of a scrambler where he rolls to his right instead of checking down. Purdy has 5 starts in the pros.
When you look at another one in Lamar he has the same win record as Kirk in the playoffs and his numbers are actually worse.
At least he consistently makes the playoffs.
There are things that can help a little: but you don't want Kirk to be a chuck and ducker you want him to stay in the pocket and deliver a pass, maybe you cut down on the long developing plays KOC loved these kinds of plays, maybe you do run the ball better that can slow down interior pass rush a little bit, we were lucky that Kirk has a very tough body that can take punishment and that the NFL is cracking down on hits (QBs still are getting hurt). I think our Guard play might have been hurt by having to help out Bradbury which again is not a real solution draft/trade/sign for a C that can withstand interior rush and doesn't need help.
They have been spending a massive amount of draft capital on the Oline for years now, more than any other team since Kirk has been here. It is never enough, because to protect a QB who doesn't like to move from his spot once he gets to the back of his drop, is really, really hard. On top of that, unlike guys like Brady and Brees who get rid of the ball incredibly quickly to make up for their lack of mobility, Kirk holds the ball way too long. He invites a lot of those hits by holding the ball until the very last second instead of reading the field with anticipation and getting rid of the ball before his Oline gets beat.
A different QB behind this Oline, either one more mobile or more decisive, and the Oline would suddenly look much better. Ingram is garbage, there is no question about that, and Cleveland and Bradbury aren't anything more than average at best. With two near elite tackles a mediocre interior line should be good enough though. Unfortunately the Oline is never good enough, just like the D, receivers and run game are never good enough, never will be.
