Part of that is dead cap hit that was pushed further out. I don't think there have been 5 players in the NFL that have had a larger total cap hit over the last 5 seasons and Kirk definitely isn't a top 5 player. That his contract is lower next year (in part due to void) doesn't change that until now he hasn't lived up to it or that he is old and we won't be truly contending with him moving forward at this point. What's getting harder and harder to take seriously is those that downplay all of his issues and ignore the full context over and over.
Well his job depended on it and he didn't want Cousins, apparently for pretty good reason with how it played out. Kwesi and KOC came in and followed the same basic path as the last regime (and again seemed pushed by Wilfs from the start). I do give credit to them for winning as many games as they did given the route taken (which was the real issue). I was just responding to the general point you made because the people who's jobs depended on it lost theirs due to how poorly this team did since Cousins got here. That's despite having enough success prior to make it to the NFC championship game.
You think Zimmer and Spielman got fired because of Kirk?
No, they had their own issues and failings as well. It’s never just a Kirk issue as I always say, I just can also easily point out how he has been part of never living up to expectations/salary himself. They were fired because of the lack of success once Kirk got here compared to those expectations many had when he was brought in (which goes far beyond just Kirk).
