It's time to announce the winners of the two PPA awards! Here are the final standings:
Batting Title
#1: legendsofthenorth .355
#2: Funkytown .353
#3: tfundermann .350
Slugging Title
#1: tfundermann 23 XBH
#2: Funkytown 21 XBH
#3: Danchat 17 XBH
As a collective, we had a waaay better year, up from .245 in 2021 to .290, and the slugging went nuts going from .390 to .543. We had 13 more 2Bs, 7 more 3Bs, and 2 more HRs. Still waiting for our first GS, though. The strong PPA season definitely correlated with a successful Vikings season.
Both races were a blast to watch, as both came down to the Super Bowl weekend to come through. Funkytown nearly passed up tfundermann right at the end with Funky hitting 2 2Bs on the SB, but she came up 2 points short. The batting average race was even closer, as legendsofthenorth scraped by with a narrow win, going 11 for 31 compared to Funky's 12 for 34 and Tad's 14 for 40.
A few notable players who did not qualify: Our friend @aussie61 went 1 for 11, and I even warned him about some crazy predictions... perhaps he will be the first to hit a grand slam. Drew Bunting went 2 for 6, but with 2 HRs! We've only had 7 HRs hit in the three year history of PPA, so it's too bad he didn't come back to hit more dingers!
Under small sample sizes, azviksfan88 , ocampo82 , and NoresemanSam all would have contended for both awards as they had a combined 27 XBH despite only 17 predictions. dauntessmallhands rounds up the caboose going 0 for 6, while we had another 10 users fail to get a single prediction right.
The winners will be contacted shortly about their prize. We hope to see you participate next year - and remember, you can make predictions at any time! Feel free to start with some 2023 predictions and go nuts.
And for those who may want to check the prediction list, you can find it here.
