... if you change just 3 bounces in each season. Things that had nothing to do with coaching or hallway smiles. Just fortune vs misfortune. #ZimmerVindicationTour
I'm sure we can think of more, but here are the 3 I'm choosing.
2021
1. Week 1 at Cincinnati: Dalvin doesn't fumble, or is correctly ruled down by the refs.
2. Week 2 at Arizona: Joseph isn't a choking sack of crap
3. Week 13 at Detroit: Dantzler defends the goal line or Zimmer blitzes once or Breeland actually holds onto the INT or St. Brown drops the TD or Goff throws one bad pass
BOOM! We're 11-6 in 2021. The 5th seed, playing Monday night at L.A. Rams wildcard weekend, and nobody gets fired. AKA Funkytown's wet dream.
2022 ... since Zimmer and Spielman never got fired, Kirk got traded and they brought Slooter back, Vikings go 17 .... oh wait, wrong fantasy ... focus, focus ... ok for real.
1. Week 1 vs Green Bay: Kirk Cousins gets abducted by aliens and the Vikings sign Kyle ... oh right ...
1. Week 3 vs Detroit: Dan Campbell goes for it on 4th down for a 7th time instead of attempting a 54 yard FG
2. Week 10 at Buffalo: Josh Allen doesn't fumble in his own EZ
3. Week 13 vs Jets: Berrios doesn't drop the TD pass
BOOM! The Phoney Baloney's still have a negative point differential but they're less fraudulent at 10-7. The Lions win the division at 10-7 (2-0 over the Vikings), Vikings are the 6th seed and avoid the humiliating prospect of losing to Daniel Jones in a playoff game at home, and instead travel to Detroit wildcard weekend, where they complete the humiliating reality of getting swept by Jared Goff ... which finally gets Zimmer/Spielman fired.
Since the Kwesi/O'Connell mistake never happens, we need a new GM and HC now. Shut-up, it's my fantasy. We hire Harbaugh as GM and HC, for real this time, and he goes on to create a purple dynasty, filling the trophy case, and giving Reignman nothing to complain about for once. Yeah ok, I probably got a little carried away there. I definitely would've found something to complain about. One of those Super Bowls probably wasn't a shutout, or worse, we lost the shutout in garbage time. Can you imagine?
