I think in large part it's because of the combination of a new building regime but still has structures in place of the old one. Kind of like Soldier Field, you can flip the field but it's still a crappy stadium.

that isn't the philosophy. at all. people are telling you what the value of certain players is. But the team may not agree. Just because Jordan Addison is ranked higher in some publication than Bryan Bresee, doesn't mean he has more value. That is for the team to decide.

If there are 10 players you value exactly the same and you can get one of them at 23 or one of them at 31 plus another player of any sort at say 60, then why wouldn't you do that? But if there's one player you value more than those other nine and the drop off from that player to the next level is greater than anyone you could get at 60 then take that player.

I think what most people are saying is that it's very unlikely that there will be someone available who is head and shoulders better than the rest enough to justify not taking advantage of that additional pick.

as much as all the pundits try to pretend they know that this guy is better than that guy or that guy is better than this guy, they don't. Ratings and rankings are cool because they elicit clicks. The bottom line is that the lines are likely pretty gray and using math will work a lot more often than it doesn't.

this year I would, but hey, if LT Peter Skoronski from Nw'ern fell to the Vikings at pick 23, then why not draft him if he is the BPA, he does have a pretty cool name for a Viking player. Can never have enough LT's on the roster.

Guard? I would think Minnesota fans would be well aware that just because someone can play one spot on the line does not mean moving to another is without issues...Remmers, Udoh, Cleveland. Even best case scenarios have hiccups along the way...and worst case scenarios are Oli Udoh committing 20 holding penalties a year.
Backing up Darrisaw/O'Neill? A lot of money for too little return, especially when Brandel and Udoh do fine for a lot less.

So, yeah, I disagree. You can indeed have too many LTs when only one of them can be on the field most of the time. I shiver to say it, but I would take Hooker before Skoronski or whatever his name is...at least Hooker would maybe be playing by '24 while LT guy is riding the pine or trade bait until '25.

Teams are considering Skoronski at guard as they think his wingspan is a better fit there, I wouldn't have a problem with moving him. I can envision shipping Cleveland off for a Day 3 pick and plugging him in at LG.

I don't think that's the right move since we've already went the past 5 years spending a 1st or 2nd on an OL, and there will likely be a player on the board who will be a better fit positional value-wise. I hope they trade down, get back a couple early picks (3rd rounders, in a perfect scenario they somehow stay in the first tround and get a second round pick) and get DL and LB. I would be giddy if they walked away with Jack Campbell and either Isaki Ika or Mazi Smith as their first two picks.

The more I look into the draft the more it seems like trading down might be the best option on the table (if someone wants to move up of course). Especially if one of those tackles is left. I know that makes people nervous based on last year but I don't think the general strategy is wrong depending on how the draft falls. KAM just needs to do a bit better value wise this time around.

The reality is that there really isn't much of a drop off once you get into that range, which is why you see a lot of trade downs, especially if it means picking up another day 2 pick, as those are the meat and potatoes of a draft. That's one of those things that really tires me about the BPA argument. It's usually easy to identify in hindsight, but it's pretty subjective in general.
