For those who think the Vikings shouldn’t go for a young cheaper option, why not? The Vikings have been going the FA QB route for years. It almost worked ONCE in 2009 with Favre. Since then most of these vet QBs only keep the Vikings competitive enough to not get a top 10 pick in the draft. We’re so scared to take a chance on a young QB in fear that he’ll be a bust for overpriced veteran QBs who can barely get us past the wild card round.
To be fair we went the young, cheap route 2x since then and once immediately before then and that made bringing in Brett necessary because the young and cheap option quite frankly sucked.
You are so close to getting the main point for many lol. So out of the last 3 times we have gone with a young cheap qb we have made the nfc championship game with the roster we were able to build twice? That’s without any of them being very good/getting injured too.
Imagine if we landed an above average or better qb while taking that route. Imagine if things went our way when we follow it up with a Favre like signing when we move on. The entire point people have been making is move on from cousins so we can build up the roster like we did in our most successful runs in 20 plus years.
