1- I don’t want them to because I know Kirk is better than him but Lance fits the bill for every QB fans want us to dump Kirk for without even knowing if they are better than him. At least with Kirk gone the irrational, illogical, vocal minority would finally be quiet for a while.

The mentality of having the best QB we have had in 40 years and blaming him for the team not winning a SB in spite of the dumpster fire that’s around him over the past several years, constantly changing coaches, coordinators and an OL that has been brutal. So yeah- that’s the mentality I have been having a conversation with.

Many want to go with a younger cheaper option sure, that’s not really the same thing as thinking a prospect is bad and still hoping the Vikings trade for him like you said. I do agree though, the Kirk homers in the minority of all nfl fans and analysts would finally be quiet for a while hopefully when he’s gone instead of the constant strawman arguments, deflections, ignoring facts to make stuff up etc. when almost everyone else can see what’s going on.

He’s the most expensive qb we have had in 40 years, that’s for sure. I think Favre in 09 has an argument for the best qb we have had in that timeframe though. I don’t think there has been almost anyone solely blaming him for not winning a SB despite the roster but he hasn’t really lived up to his pay either and was an issue after our one playoff win in his career at the same time. I would strongly disagree that top 10 defenses and elite weapons like he had his first two seasons are a dumpster fire. It feels like this is a mostly made up mentality by you tbh and ignoring the actual points people make.

The reason to move on from Cousins is he is only above average despite what he’s been paid and this roster isn’t as good as it was when he first got here (where we won one playoff game in 2 seasons and he followed up the win with a poor performance). We need to build up the roster and open up resources to do so and he is already one of the oldest starting QBs in the league. The reason to move on is that we already took our shot with him and failed. We need to focus on rebuilding the roster and look towards how to win a Super Bowl moving forward.

I am all for signing the GOAT or putting together the most talented team of the past decade. Those seem like good options we should try to replicate as well.

mobility alone is not a replication of the successful QBs from the last super bowl. Lance has a long way to go before coming close to that level of production. It would be a different story if he were just drafted but he's already entering the 3rd year of his rookie deal.

How about you just be honest about it and say you hate Kirk Cousins because of your own preconceived notions about his faith? Kirk Cousins is far less vocal about his faith than many other NFL Superstars and QBs in general. The NFL is awash with overt displays of religiosity every Sunday of the football season and you point to "adulation" of Kirk Cousins (and what site are you reading?) and think it must be due to something he rarely ever publicly speaks about-unless brought to a forum specifically to discuss that?

And, to cut what I am sure is your illogical reasoning for why anyone would have the gall to mildly defend Kirk Cousins? No, I am not evangelical, and I am not a Christian.

I’m not a big fan of Kirk. Find a proven QB who is better and I have no problem moving on. I didn’t even want the team to sign him in 2008. But he has done enough from the position to have won many of the playoff games we lost so I’m not ready to just dump him and go back to Ponder, Jackson, Bridgewater or Webb. I have zero issue with them signing a QB and moving on from Kirk once that player shows they are better. And from reactions from fans like yourself that should be a very low threshold. So there is no reason not to take that approach.

Since then most of these vet QBs only keep the Vikings competitive enough to not get a top 10 pick in the draft. We’re so scared to take a chance on a young QB in fear that he’ll be a bust for overpriced veteran QBs who can barely get us past the wild card round.

To be fair we went the young, cheap route 2x since then and once immediately before then and that made bringing in Brett necessary because the young and cheap option quite frankly sucked.
