Extend Cousins or ... ?

One ridiculous things on message boards social media etc is when people complain about threads and ask mods to ban or close them or ban posters etc this is part of a new censorship culture that is infecting our society.

1) If you don't like a thread, post, poster JUST DON'T READ it no one is forcing you to read it
2) Many of these sites do have BLOCKING so if you are so mentally weak you can't control yourself use BLOCK

I'm actually curious to see if the Bills ever get over the hump and crawl out of the AFC as champs. Allen gives them hope, but the longer it goes, the less likely it seems. You're right. It's all about Mahomes and Burrow. Maybe I'm totally off base here, but it seems like their window is closing.

I'd say Allen gives the Bills as much of a chance as Cousins does our Vikings. No, not because they are close to the same level, but more so, the state of the two conferences right now. With a good team around him, Cousins is just as likely to crawl out of the NFC as Allen is the AFC.

There's no reason to be so rigid with these quarterback debates, because there are always so many moving parts. But you're right, the consensus is: rookie quarterback contract or paying Mahomes or Burrow. No one else really has proven to be worthy of the big contract if we're being honest with ourselves. BUT, teams are going to pay less-than-elite quarterbacks and are going to have to try to find a way.

...it really is too bad the wheels fell off the defense. But that's the story of our Vikes. We can rarely put a complete team together. And when we do, it's short-lived!

To say "maybe Allen" here should be all you need to understand why people are ready to move on from Kirk. If a QB who has played 5 seasons and has 4 playoff wins, lead the 2nd best scoring offense in ppd last season and had multiple seasons with a QBR over 70 and went blow for blow with KC in playoffs is more of a maybe to you then imagine how disappointing Kirks career must be in comparison.

I don't know about just the last 5 seasons but Kirk made the most money in the NFL from 2016-2021 from what I saw (so he is top 5 I am pretty sure at the very least since joining us). He is regularly considered outside the top 10 QBs, never lead a top 5 ppd team in that span, never had a QBR over 70 and was an issue when he had a great team around him in 2019 putting up only 10 points in a playoff loss. Allen has done more in 5 seasons in multiple ways than his entire career. 

If you want to look at it from a "how many teams perspective", it still makes more sense to shoot for a high level one in the draft. Has there ever been a team in nfl history to pay up for a QB, let the roster drop off and need to rebuild, then extend long term during the rebuild when said QB is the 2nd oldest starter and have it result in a SB? It is a next to 0% chance that approach will ever work out for a team given history so even if it isn't more likely than not we get that franchise guy the odds are better than the approach of extending Cousins at this point.

I hope they extend Cousins two more years. Just to see who will stick by the team. Or, the second best option, Cousins leaves and wins a Super Bowl with his next team. If he doesn’t do here.

To be quite Frank because in my opinion you aren’t looking at it objectively but rather from a position you despise the QB on a personal level and and that’s why you say he got knocked out by Garoppolo and Jones when in fact he didn’t play our defense and the other QBs did.

The losses were not losses like we had with TJ,Teddy or Webb where the offense couldn’t score any points to help the defense out but rather our defense has not helped him out by at least trying to stop a marginal QB. Daniel Jones is nothing special as a QB but our defense made him look like a HOF. That’s the difference. Some can look objectively at the games and understand the reasons why the team was not successful. In this case the weak link was not him. If it was like when we had Teddy, TJ, Ponder/Webb I would be right there agreeing with you.


Until then as I have said Kirk has earned the starting position and if someone like Hall can take it from him then I will support him. But I refuse to hate a player on my team who has done the things at the position we have been looking for for 40 years and I will continue to support him as long as he is playing at the level he is. If that makes me less of a fan in your eyes I am prepared to live with that.

Well we pride ourselves here on finding a good balance of moderation and total anarchy. I never felt we over moderate here but we will step in when needed to keep on topic. I've personally suggested the block feature myself if someone does bother you that much. It almost never involved a member I consider "mentally weak" and often the member getting blocked has a history of low quality posting themselves. Avoidance of echo chambers are also factored into moderation and letting the same topic filter into multiple threads.
