Congratulations Ed Ingram!

Going into week 18 it was the 14th best scoring offense and 20th best at moving the football. It is currently 20th in overall offensive DVOA, 15th in passing DVOA and 28th in rushing DVOA even after getting to play a team filled with practice squad guys whos coaches were actively trying to lose the football game. An above average at best offense with the best WR in football, a top 10 RB, top 10 TE, top 12 QB, top 10 LT and top 10 RT.

The Oline is 26th in pass blocking efficiency, meaning they give up a pressure or sack per drop back more than all but 6 offensive lines in football, and Ingram leads the way on the offensive line in pressures and sacks given up. More than both his tackles combined in fact. Something nearly impossible to do at the RG position.

The Vikings' running backs both had down years for them and were frequently stuffed behind the line of scrimmage. Cook averaged 5.42 YPA rushing to the left, 3.88 YPA rushing to the right.




The RG sucks and there is 0 evidence to support that not being the case. None. You watch him on film, he sucks. You look at the stats, he sucks. He is just a really bad player who the Vikings wasted a 2nd round pick on.




"I just think Ed continues to ascend," offensive coordinator Wes Phillips said on Thursday. "I think I mentioned before, we knew that there would be a little bit of growing pains playing a rookie at right guard in the NFL with the pass rushers we’ve seen, starting off the year against Kenny Clark and Green Bay. There were going to be some times where he’s got to kind of learn the hard way, and none of us want that to happen — you wish they were all Pro Bowlers up there that have five or 10 years of experience where they’ve just seen it all, but some of that stuff was new to him.


"I think the more he sees the talent level is there, the strength, the anchor, all of that stuff is in his body, the athleticism. You just have to see some things and learn a few hard mistakes, but he’s continued to progress."


"He played because we felt like he was the best player we had at that position," Phillips said. "It wasn’t, ‘Hey, we drafted this guy, we’ve got to get him in.’ We were comfortable whoever that person would have been. ... Ultimately we just felt like the ceiling was higher. Maybe he wasn’t quite as experienced, maybe he hadn’t seen it as much, but when it came to blocking a guy 1-on-1, when he had to anchor down or when he had to kind of redirect on a rush where he gets edged and he cleans the pocket and presses and creates some space for the quarterback, we just felt like he was the better option."

Hmmmm that makes me wonder. Does Ingram get credit for giving up those sacks, or do they count against the poor bastard whose guy touched Kirk's corpse first?

 Watch Ingram with someone who understands football. Is there someone like that who you can reach out to?

 You could also try this: after any successful run (or any run for that matter) hit rewind, watch the play again and then focus on Ingram. What you should see is the RB running past his hip, or you'll see Ingram erase a lineman and then a LB out of the play.

Ingram was absolutely dominated yesterday, and was a large reason 4 of the Vikings 8 drives stalled.

He tied with Bradbury with 5 pressures given up, and was somehow struggling to even double team guys. So much for improvement over the season...
