Week 14 - Vikings @ Lions Support Group

Once you get past the Top 8-12 Players that can be considered Blue Chip Prospects there isn't a ton of difference between a kid picked at 28 or a kid picked at 98.

Kwesi will undoubtedly move out of the 1st Round to get a high(ish) 2nd and a 4th. Overall he will likely have 4 picks in the Top 120.

The 2nd (likely a CB even though Dan hates that idea) and the 3rd (BPA at Edge, LB, C or even WR) will need to start or play a lot early. The latter two picks will be to bolster depth.

Kwesi couldn't completely flush out Rick's depth in just 1 year. But there's little to suggest he will keep a Troy Dye or James Lynch or maybe even DJ Wonnum, who's gone back to doing zilch lately after showing some real promise.

If he hadn't acquired Hock TE1 becomes the most important Offensive need in the offseason. And Rookie TEs take a while to develop. It was the right move regardless of how the season ends because Hockenson is part of the future of the Offense along with JJ, Darrisaw, O'Neill and Cleveland.

Here's one encouraging thought: I personally haven't been too impressed with Kwesi so far, but it's only Year 1 and it's his first crack at the GM job so patience is needed. That being said, one characteristic/trait that I have liked so far is the willingness to do something and not sit back and wait for everyone else to react.

Case(s) in point: entering the 2022 Draft, it was obvious the Vikings were lacking in the secondary and Kwesi (along with the scouts and O'Connell) attacked the secondary roster holes with 3 secondary prospects in the first 5 picks (Cine, Booth Jr and Evans). Then, when Irv went on IR, he almost immediately got on the phone with Detroit and worked out the Hockenson trade details before the deadline.

Now, circling back to the "encouragement" part in terms of the 2023 offseason: I think many Viking fans recognize that the defense will be getting the "lion's share" of the attention this coming offseason (both in free agency acquisitions and Draft prospects) and from what we know about Kwesi from the 2022 offseason/season so far, he's going to attack the holes relatively aggressively. I can't guarantee that fans will like every move that occurs because it could possibly mean moving more veteran cap dollars into future seasons to create room to sign a starter or two and add depth, but I'm fairly certain that Kwesi will attack the defensive side of the football which I believe is a good thing.

The team Kwesi took over has had early success so far in its first year. That's good and all but speaking of patience, how long will he give Donatell before he shows him the door? Will it be a quick hook or will he give Donatell a second go around (2023 free agency acquisitions and Draft prospects?) This defense we currently run is really bad.

I could give two rat's sh*ts how you choose to show your fandom. My POINT was, you bash people for trying to remain positive while suggesting they aren't viewing the team rationally. So, as I've said to people like Koolaid, don't bash us for being positive if you don't like being bashed for being negative- two way deal, yeah?

And your condescending methods of doing it don't help your cause either......'does your being positive equate to wins', 'does my being negative hurt their chances'....so you think being positive equates to thinking like a 5 yr old then? And being negative equates to being big-brained and more knowledgable about football? smh
