I'm very late putting this together as the PAC12 Championship is into the 4th qtr (Utah up 34-24), but this is Conference Championship weekend and there are some games worth watching. This is everyone's last chance to make a statement before bowl games...before Heisman voting...and the final opportunity to prove to the CFP Committee that you belong in the College Football Playoffs. Plus, with many players opting out of their bowl games these days, this could be the last time you see certain players before they turn pros in the 2023 Draft.
Saturday, 12/3 - Early Afternoon Games
#10 Kansas St vs #3 TCU - Noon ET (ABC) - BIG XII Championship
The Wildcats nearly pulled it off earlier this year before TCU came back to win and now it's on a neutral field. Both teams are coming off big wins and this should be a very good game to determine the BIG XII champion. Even if the Horned Frogs lose, there's a chance they still get into the CFP, but it would be a huge boost to the Wildcat program to win the BIG XII and carry that momentum into the 2023 season. Baylor and Oklahoma St played a very good game last season - can the Wildcats and Horned Frogs deliver again?
#22 UCF @ #18 Tulane - 4PM ET (ABC) - AAC Championship
This conference has been dominated by Cincinnati the past 3-4 years, but Tulane put an end to that during Week 13 and now they get to host the Conference Championship and possibly go to a New Year's Day bowl - the only thing standing in their way is UCF, a team that dominated Tulane in New Orleans just 4 weeks ago. The Knights can score points and Tulane is more of a ground-n-pound team that likes to control the clock on offense. I do get the feeling that Tulane QB and 2023 Draft prospect Michael Pratt is going to need to make some key throws/runs in this one for the Green Wave.
Purdue vs #2 Michigan - 8PM (FOX) - BIG10 Championship
The Wolverines pulled of a massive win at Columbus in "The Game" during Rivalry Week without their Heisman RB candidate, Blake Corrum, but the week prior, they barely squeaked by BIG10 West team Illinois in Ann Arbor. Now they need to come back a week later and face the BIG10 Division champion, Purdue, led by 2023 Draft QB prospect Aiden O'Connell. I do think Michigan has a distinct advantage on both the OL and DL and if they control that early, it could be a long night for the Boilermakers. But the difference for Purdue could be O'Connell who's had some great moments this season; he'll need the game of his life if he's going to pull off the massive upset and possibly send the Wolverines out of the CFP.
