How/when does this defense get fixed?

Cuz it's bad. At least they were able to get off the field a few times without a sack or turnover.
Missing Tomlinson hurts. Phillips is doing his job but every other member of the IDL stinks. Lynch, Bullard, Tonga and Blacklock are Replacement Level Players or worse.
Z is balling out but he's also underpaid and on the wrong side of 30. Hunter is fine but he's going to want Top 5 DE money and to me he's not making enough impact in this new scheme. I'm coming around to whoskmoon's suggestion that Danielle is a 4-3 DE and not a 3-4 Edge. Wonnum and Jones are good depth but neither profiles as more than that.
We all know the LBs are slow. And not tackling well. Gotta hope Asamoah pans out next year but more help is clearly needed here and the answer isn't on the Roster at this time.
Extending Patrick Peterson has somehow gone from a weird notion for a Team in a 2 year window before a rebuild to imperative. He's the only consistent performer in the entire Secondary. One would hope that out of Dantzler, Booth and Evans the Team ends up with a serviceable CB2. The Vikings have also had a Slot CB issue since Munnerly left. Smith is clearly slowing down, and in a system that doesn't cater to his strengths. I'm not sold on Bynum yet. I think the upside will come the more he plays. A little too inconsistent so far. Cine should be fine. I reckon he didn't hit the playbook hard enough and with the injury he's had enough humble pie and should be hungry.
There's just so many holes and not much capital to use to fix it.
