I, for one, gave a highly detailed plan for a reboot over the 2021 offseason... not that I was in favor of that, but I would have preferred it over what Spielman did.
It's not just the poverty franchises that put themselves into rebuilds, they got into spurts of 'win now' mode that don't work because they aren't competent, not because 'they never try to win'. And the Texans rebuild is just beginning, we'll have to see what happens once they get their QB.
I would call NE's one year blip a 'retool' rather than a rebuild, as it doesn't fit the criteria of axing a whole bunch of veterans and hoarding draft picks, and it also hasn't been a multi-year process.
Miami is a great example, they completely stripped down their roster over the 2019-2020 seasons, and are now suddenly a legitimate AFC contender in a very quick span of time. So many people warned that they would become the next Lions/Browns, but instead they appear to have a chance to break out of their middling ways and start competing for titles... for now, anyways.
Restructures, not extensions. Spielman was the one who gave both of them extensions, Kwesi simply gave them more guaranteed money in exchange for cap space in 2022. Neither got extra years on their restructures.
When did tearing it down ever work? The Browns? The Texans?

Bills, Rams, SF, NE, Miami...

Kwesi gave extensions to Smith and Thielen
