The simple answer imo is it’s related to the talent we have on the roster. Some players are just always going to be making mistakes.
We saw plenty of these types of issues last year from players in a system they knew better. Dantzler against the lions last season comes to mind. Sullivan has been about as bad as Alexander. I am sure some of it also comes down to a new scheme, Bynum is hopefully not making quite as many mistakes as woods did by the end of the year and the vets at times have been at fault.
Offensively it makes it even more clear imo. Not a lot has changed other than coaching (supposed to be big improvement) and the oline seeming to be improved as well as a unit. Despite supposedly fixing the two flaws the offense looks very similar with a lot of 3 and outs/short drives and struggling to consistently move the ball. Kirk not having more freedom to change previously looks like the right call despite claims. He is who he is and a lot of the offense relies on his decision making which imo has always been a massive issue in why the offense has never really been top level with him (despite almost always having great weapons).
Overall I don’t think we should expect some big change after the bye just because they have had a lot of time. We need to improve the talent level if we want to take a real step forward, it was never really about anything else imo. Luckily the nfc is so bad and our schedule is so easy we should win the division and possibly push for more than the 10-11 wins initially predicted. I don’t think we should keep blaming coaching/system for issues basically no coach can fix. It’s probably going to keep looking somewhat ugly but it can still be a good first year for the new regime/coaches despite that if they keep winning close ones.
Its either Kirk is limiting this offense, or the Offense will improve to what we thought it was capable of with Kevin running the show.
