Hey, whatever this staff is doing or giving these players, sign me up! Seriously, I would like to know. Hell, by day 4 of the week, I’m struggling to get down the stairs to go to work. I’m at work and thinking “Now if I lift that “more than I should be lifting” object, I’m going to find myself on IR (injured reserve)”. THIS team? Oh hell no. Sure there’s a dinged up guy or two BUT that’s it - it’s JUST a guy or two. Let’s review shall we?
Week 6 list just came out. Now let’s look at what we have compared to our opponents on the Wednesdays of the reports. (DISCLAIMER - Im not counting that “rest” or “illness” BS + I’m not counting someone on the list who was a full participant on Wednesday. If your fully practicing Wednesday, you are NOT injured)
Vikings: 3
LP = 3
DNP = 0
Dolphins: 11
LP = 7
DNP = 4
So 20% of the Dolphin roster was at the very least limited in practice. Meanwhile, the Vikings are at 5.6%. That is a drastic difference!
Now let’s look at the entire season….
WOW - Seriously, I just went through all the reports for the first time and this is crazy! Let’s just say that the Dolphins have MORE players listed as “Limited Participation” then the Vikings have had listed with the same designation ALL SEASON!
Here’s the totals from the initial injury reports for a 6 week total:
Vikings: 13
LP = 6
DNP = 7
That’s right, if you divide 13 by 318 (53 player roster divided 6 weeks), the Vikings stand a crazy low 4%. Roughly 2 of their 53 players were either limited or didn’t participate.
Opponents: 42
LP = 26
DNP = 16
That means 13% or 7 players out of the 53 were limited or couldn’t practice.
So I’m conclusion - this training staff needs a medal. Let us as fans not take for granted how healthy we have been. Congratulations to the staff on keeping us healthy to date and please pass your wisdom to the masses. It’s Wednesday night and I need some advice on how to get this 50-something body through the day tomorrow.
