Not really, and what do you mean by later? The 12th game, playoffs? What some of those fancy stats could do is give you a good idea of what an individual team's weaknesses and strengths are but on any given Sunday your team can get their ass kicked if they don't execute enough plays in the 3 phases of an NFL game. Just ask the Chiefs and Bills how it worked out for them in week 3. Both of those teams have good individual and team stats but still lost to inferior teams. That can and will happen in the playoffs as well.
B-b-but you just said it was nothing but "white noise" a-a-and referred to our concerns as "over analyzing".
Just for sh*t and giggles, I looked up the standard NFL statistical acronyms. I believe there are 56 of them. In those 56, they did not include DVOA, TOP or WAR. Now we have some kind of bayesian theory stat sh*t going on. When does it stop? If I were to guess there must be over 156 statistical categories that are over-analyzed daily. Don't be surprised if PFF makes up a new one tomorrow.
