Happy 8th Anniversary Purple Pain!

Has it been that long already? 
It's one of those weird things where sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday and sometimes it feels like its been 20 years. I wish I had a cool origin story to share, but those records are lost on an external HDD that's no longer talking to me, so all I have are my fading memories now.
From what I recall 8 years ago, we were on a message board that was going through a ban happy phase. Some of the cool kids like Oracle Bone Diviner had already gotten banned, mostly for disagreeing with the wrong people, or for having the wrong political views. Shockingly I was on the fast track to joining them, having exhausted 2 of my 3 warnings, so Funkytown and I began the brainstorming that would lead to the Pain. She was a good girl so she wasn't in any danger of getting banned, but she was losing all her friends xD.
I don't remember who floated the idea, but I believe I mentioned something about how I ran a board/community before and that if she wanted to run her own Vikings board, I'd help with the technical stuff. I just wanted nothing to do with, moderating, babysitting, or anything like that. Been there done that lol, so if it's something she wanted to do, she'd be in charge xD. But hold on, that isn't the entire story. While all that brainstorming was going on back in September 2014, Adrian Peterson was busy getting busted/suspended for abusing his kid, which led to the old board shutting down. Something about not wanting to support a team that supports a child abuser, and not being happy about what some of the fans had been saying etc, so they essentially rage quit and banned ERRBODY lol.
A lot of us congregated on another message board temporarily to try to figure out what was going on, and that's where Funky and I determined it was a sign from the football gods. It was either join yet another board (which was already dying) or do this. This was probably another good decision lol. Just Me James PotGoblin PurpleKoolaid 808vikingsfan Mondry Raptorman Valhalla HunterMorrow Purple Jesus VikingsBoss Works2muchguy and Frosted were some of the brave OG's who joined us way back then. Then I went and got the gameday crew Minniman and EricTheViking from another board, and the Pain was underway. Well the community was underway and the Vikings were about to help us live up to the name we chose xD. Sept 2014 was coincidentally the beginning of the Zimmer/Teddy era.
Yeah, about the name. I don't think either of us remember how we came up with it, but it was probably a collaborative thing. But I know we agreed on it because of the double meaning. Sure this stupid team has caused us a lot of pain the past 61 years, but should it ever become a dyn ... 
ok I'll just stop right there. I don't even remember some of the other names we tossed around. Probably something like FunkyReign or TheEmptyTrophyCase.
We weren't here long when we were recruited by another community to run their new Vikings board, Vikings Journal or Purple Mist or whatever it was. It seemed like a good opportunity at the time, but it didn't work out, so 2 years later we were back home. Did I say it didn't work out? Well I meant for them, because we picked up some interesting new characters while we were on that little detour ... Danchat @aussie61 diehardtwinsfan beckmt NoresemanSam wickedslider Jackal twinssouth wavedog DaveW and JoeO to name a few, so I can't complain ... about most of them anyway. The Pain just wouldn't be the same without them, so thanks Twins Daily!
Whelp, that's our origin story, and we're sticking to it. Probably the only origin story that doesn't begin with dead parents or spider bites. The bits I remember anyway. Maybe Funkmeister was bit by a spider or remembers things differently.
We've picked up a lot more interesting characters and partnerships along the way, so what's your Purple Pain story? When did you join the support group and how'd you find us? I'll bet Funkytown probably found and dragged most of you here kicking and screaming didn't she lol? She's tenacious.
