I'm going to be honest with you guys, I'm not happy with the team thus far. This preseason has looked good for the rookies and backups and that's about it. Our starters have looked pretty terrible, especially on offense. The game against the 49ers was bad, even though we won with our backups. That was supposed to be the one preseason game, I thought we would get a chance to see our team shine.

Shurmur has not impressed me thus far with the playcalling. It is definitely a problem with the team and it's been this way for some years. I don't know if we aren't drafting the right talent, or if our coaches are just unable to evaluate and coach up talent. This is very discouraging. I know Zimmer has really put in a lot of hard effort to get this team good, and that last game made it seem like the team is back to where it was before he arrived.

I want to hop on the, "it's only the preseason," bandwagon but it's hard to guys. I think the team may have even taken a further step back than they did last season after the bye week. I hope I'm wrong.

12 possessions, 5 sacks allowed, zero touchdowns for the starting offense.

Defensively, Waynes is getting abused. Rhodes playing like a typical CB who no longer cares after signing a big contract extension. Mackenzie Alexander is completely lost as the nickel cb. If this is our best then we are in trouble.

The game against the 49ers was embarrassing. That looked like a 5 win or less team. There's more than one area of concern. Offense as a whole, secondary, is Zimmer really the guy? And Spielman should be on the hot seat after a very bad 2016 draft class.

Eh, I think he was playing more like it was the preseason and he didn't want to get hurt. I am much more concerned about Waynes and Alexander, they were shredded by Garcon and Baldwin, and while those two WRs are some of the better ones in the league, they need to be able to at least be within 5 yards of their guy when they're covering.

I think the Vikings will play better than they have, but I'm not sure if that will be good enough. I was thinking they were headed for a 9-7 season but it's feeling more like 8-8.

The Vikings didn't gameplan for the 49ers, and the Vikings were a bit upset that the Niner's defense blitzed so much in a pre-season game.

It was a lesson learned under fire, but anyone can look good when that team takes practice games that seriously. Perhaps the Vikings should be taking the third game more seriously than they have under Zimmer, but teams don't like to endanger key players for an exhibition.

IIRC the Vikings were upset that the Bills blitzed so much in a pre season game a few years ago when Frazier was coach.

While the Vikings have looked less than impressive,it is only pre season,and they don't hand out trophies in pre season.Plenty of teams have looked bad in pre season and gone 0-4 but looked good once sh*t gets real,and gone on to make the playoffs.
I'll wait until we get to week 4 or 5 in the regular season and then assess where things are at.

Primary areas of concern: same as they have been since Zimmer has been here - offensive line and defensive backs.

John Madden stated that good teams are built from the line out on offense and from the corners in on defense, and that is still a good rule of thumb today.
