Miami loses a 2023 1st round and third round pick, moving the Vikings up a spot in the 1st or 2nd (depending on whether they have a better or worse season than the Dolphins) and the 3rd or 4th rounds of next year's.
This means one less team that is clearly not satisfied with their current QB will be in the running for a QB in 2023 and it also means that the Vikings' might have an easier time against a very good overall Miami team when they face them this year as this revelation can't sit well with Tua or head coach Mike McDaniel and we might be looking at a team ready to implode. That changes a likely loss to a likely win in my opinion.
Outside of how this impacts the Vikings, this is some of the craziest stuff I can remember happening in the NFL and I am shocked Miami only lost one 1st. They tried to steal a QB and HC away from another team while both were under contract and actually thought they would get away with it. Possibly worth the risk if they succeed since it probably means a trip back to the SB after a long drought, but since they didn't, it is just a massive failure that must have Miami fans absolutely furious with their ownership.
Miami is now competing with Washington as the most dysfunctional franchise in the NFL.
On a side note, how insanely good would Brady have been in a Sean Payton offense throwing to Tyreek and Waddle?
The NFL said Tuesday that the investigation conclusively established that the Dolphins had "impermissible communications" with Brady in 2019-2020 when he was with the Patriots. The Dolphins also had "impermissible communications" with Brady again after the 2021 season while he was a member of the Buccaneers.
"Those discussions began no later than early December 2021 and focused on Mr. Brady becoming a limited partner in the Dolphins and possibly serving as a football executive, although at times they also included the possibility of his playing for the Dolphins," the league said in Tuesday's release. "Both Messrs. Ross and (Dolphins vice chairman/limited partner Bruce) Beal were active participants in these discussions."
Additionally, the investigation determined Miami had "impermissible communications" with Payton's agent in January 2022 about Payton becoming the Dolphins' head coach.
