If Teddy sucked they would have, and with that line and lack of run game, Teddy would have had to be a good QB to be successful in 2016. If he wasn't good even before the injury, he would have been exposed as much as Bradford was and the Vikings would have moved on.

Thinking about this some more...they don't trade for Herschel Walker with Marcus Allen on the team. Really critical moment in Vikings history - and geez, I was there (kinda). Back in those days they had the "draft party" in some conference room in a hotel, I don't remember the name but it may have been off 494 IIRC... I couldn't believe we picked tiny Darrin that early, and neither could he.

There's no way that's true lol. Part of the reason Case and the Vikings were successful that year was because Case was aggressive and pushed the ball downfield, despite what Zimmer wanted. That's why Zimmer didn't like him, which makes him just that much more out of touch. His best season ever, with an aggressive QB, and he still couldn't figure it out. Teddy would have toed the conservative company line and we would have gone 10-6 at best in 2017.

I disagree because Teddy didn't even progress from year 1 to 2, and he's played the exact same these past few years too, so I think we've already seen his ceiling. The injury only cost him a few more 15 TD 9 INT type seasons.

Ironic that they drafted him ahead of Allen for his route running and pass catching ability, which didn't help us in '87 NFCCG. I mean 1982 isn't like 2022 where the RB is no longer important and passing is all that matters. RB's were just as important as QB's back then. 7 years later we'd trade the farm away for Walker.

That only gets us to the conference championship game in Los Angeles.

To say that is no way true is just very out of touch. Teddy just came off a 11-5 season with less talent on offense, a worse coordinator and id say a worse defense overall as well. This is prime Diggs and Thielen we are talking and a good Rudy too. I agree Teddy doesnt take the shots Case does, but he really wouldnt need to with that defense. You could argue Teddy was a better fit for this team, its still Zimmer ball. That Viking defense was the reason they had that year. Sure Case pulled some crazy plays out of his arse sometimes, but without that defense you saw what happened in Philly and almost in the second half of the saints game. It was a magically year for sure, but to put it on Case is a little crazy. Go and look at the scores the Vikings held teams to under 20 for most of the year. The one game Case realy won Id say is @ Washington 38-30 game which he threw for 300 yards 4Tds 2Ints, so you could say it was a self warranted shootout anyway. He had a 7-14 loss to the lions, and the only other time the defense let up over 20 was the loss to the panthers. This is also why its a team game aLways has been, always will.
