Ingram got snaps at Center because three weren't enough true Centers in attendance to run all the drills. That happens a lot of years and means nothing.
Center is not a role where you get a few snaps in and are suddenly magically ready to go. There's tons of complicated Line calls. There's the snap itself. How many bad snaps has Bradbury had with Cousins under Center or in Shotgun?
And then there's the whole post-snap thing. You're not in the exact same body position as a Guard because you literally just hiked the ball.
We need to accept the fact that it's highly unlikely that either Ingram or Davis are converted to Center. Neither profiles as a fit athletically or has any meaningful reps at all.
A far more realistic, though ultimately still highly unlikely, scenario is Reed getting a look. And it's not like he's had a bunch of reps there either.
O'Connell specifically said that he'd watched a bunch of tape on Bradbury before he was drafted. And that he believed that his scheme would 'add tools to his toolbox to help with consistency'.
Folks, we're not getting competition for Garrett and we need to accept it even though it's a sh*tty outcome. Kevin is dazzled by Bradbury's athleticism, which is pretty much the opposite of what Allen provided him in LA.
I personally find it highly unlikely that scheme tweaks to allow for more double teams and reach blocks plus what is highly likely to be much better individual positional coaching is going to cover up Garrett's shortcomings in terms of his arm length and relatively poor anchor. Have to throw in better RG play.
There are still going to be too many instances where stunts and games allow someone like Clark to get singled up on the worst pass blocking Center in the NFL. And that will lead to busted plays and stalled drives. And that's the only way O'Connell is going to learn how dead wrong he is about Bradbury, plain and simple.
