Having serious doubts about KAM already?

Disagree if you want, owners of multi-billion dollar franchises don't make the reactionary decisions fans want them to make. KAM isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

And when is the last time fans have ran ownership out of town? SMH

I've got some answers, and I'll even show my work. Here are the GMs from 2005 to 2023:



I removed coach/GMs and owner/GMs. Coach/GMs are a different beast (only Belichick at this point) and isn't comparable to traditional GMs. Owner/GMs can't be fired so they obviously don't count, else Jerry Jones / the Jones family would be another long entry. Interim GMs do not count for obvious reasons. Here are all the tenures ordered by length:



Of all defunct GMs since 2008, only 10 out of 87 come in under the 2.1 average that Sportsology's study referenced. Here are the averages:

Average tenure of defunct GMs: 6.2 years
Average tenure of all GMs: 6.3 years
Average tenure of all current GMs: 6.6 years

The average GM gets about 6 years, though there are clearly some tiers here. The great ones get as long as they want, usually from 10 to 25 years. The bad ones usually get fired by year 3 to 4. Of the 10 who were fired in under 3 years, 5 of them were Browns hires, and a couple of the others were fired for non-football reasons.

Plenty of mediocre to bad GMs got tons of time, like Lions Martin Mayhew (8 years), Jaguars David Caldwell (8 yaers), Raiders Reggie McKenzie (7 years), Lions Bob Quinn (5 years), Bucs Mark Dominik (5 years), Colts Ryan Grigson (5 years). The king in my opinion is Cardinals Steve Keim (10 years), with one playoff win in that span and consistently fielded bad rosters, having the worst record in football in Year 6 and still got 4 more years after that. Of course, Spielman also lasted 10 years (though he had influence for more years than that) and also only delivered a single playoff win.

Conclusion: If Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is a terrible GM, he'll probably get fired at the end of year 3 or 4. If he's mediocre, he's getting at least 6. If he's halfway decent, he's looking at 8+ years.

He did just win 13 that good for about 2 or 3 more years for sure. Being season 1 and all. I wanted Kwesi hired though no lie, I can't speak for nobody else, but my gripe is just Drank trying to help guide them lol. I endorsed the hires though and was on board. I want nothing but the best for him. Would be nice to see him our GM for years to come.

I admit I can be hard on people I actually like. That is because if I see potential I want you to reach it. If Kwes can learn from mistakes and keep improving that all I ask. Move us in the right direction. Rather I agree with a move or not, make decisive decisions and be confident. Regardless I will be here cheering and hoping for the best.

I try to leave personal feelings out of it though, and just look at results. Because players, coaches/ GMs come and go. It's a part of the business. I was young but dang near cried when we traded Moss. I learned the hard way that they come and go and look at it as business more than getting personally attached. So I don't get attached to nobody to where I let it clog sound logic on the results.

Now I do get on Kwes when I disagree with something but fired? We won 13 games last year don't seem fair to call for heads so quick. I mean last regime had a decade. So why fired without a fair shake first?

I believe in giving someone a chance 1st even if I don't understand something and may not have done the same thing with the roster. You not gon let him get some years 1st?

The Wilfs will always show a lot more patience than fans, but KAM and KO have a big task ahead with the most important position in sports. I think this season will go a long way towards determining how much faith we have in them with making that very important decision. As it stands right now, I'm not sure how anyone could be overly optimistic about it. But, that's why they play the games. Hopefully the young guys step up in a big way and take some pressure off of KAM. As I keep saying, I want to see some of KAM's guys actually pan out before I'll trust him with the QBOTF decision.
