Don't look at me. I was never on the Stefanski bandwagon other than it meant getting rid of Zim lol. I did enjoy it when he took some shots at Zimmer and his philosophy in some SI interview. But oooo boy, our offense was inconsistent that one year with him in 2019. And he took that inconsistency with him to Cleveland and doubled down on it. Geeez Browns, make up your mind, 40 points one week, 6 the next. He also seemed to take Zims run first philosophy with him xD. To be fair, the only time Cousins has made the playoffs in the last 6, Stefanski was his OC.

And I would argue, it's never a good idea to run the ball, and the analytics support my idea.

Average gain per pass play (including sacks) 6.22, and avg per run play 4.33. Boom! Almost 2 whole yards per play, so nobody should ever run the ball, change my mind.

Oh and if you need more evidence, I point to exhibit B: the 2012 Vikings. Arguably the greatest rushing attack in NFL history paired with one of the worst passing attacks in NFL history and yet passing was still the better option. Ponder 6.08 yards per pass attempt while Peterson chipped in a meager 6.03 YPC. Case closed! I look forward to a more entertaining NFL future where there's nothing but passing.

I'd suggest we test it in the sim but we don't want to break it. It might not be able to handle all the yards being gained and points being scored.

You mean prevent defense? We see it work and work well in every 2 minute drill. Which only supports my argument even more.

My impression was that you are not a big fan of the Head Coach, yet KOC favors the pass. While KOC is not June Jones, he will throw it more than the Kubiaks and Stefanski. When your top receiver is excited about his role in the new offense, it is a good sign.

I'm interested to see how the offense and the play-calls impact 3rd down success. Can the Vikings pass protect and convert on 3rd down? Will their top five receivers get open and convert consistently? Like a team with a Top 5 offense does.

If the Offense, the game plans, and the play-calling are good, then the pressure is on the players to perform, and for Cousins-haters, the result will be Cousins failing to perform. I neither love nor hate Cousins; I want the Vikings to win 11+ games and compete with the best teams. If our $35MM+ QB cannot compete, then it is time to move on from him. If he can, great.

I'm somewhat optimistic because guys like Stafford, Jimmy G, Flacco, and Eli either won it all or were close. I'd rather have Cousins than all but Stafford.

That's... actually a good idea, and really easily implemented. Basically if the opposing team is going to run or pass the ball every single freaking down, the defense should know that. That will actually be rather easy to code in.

My point was that the 2 yards per play probably disappears if the offense commits to throwing the ball 100% of the time and the defense knows it. If there's at least a threat of a run game, it increases the productivity of a passing play. Does that compute with you? I don't think Arena football is a viable substitute for real football...
