It's Senior Bowl week, the premiere college "All-Star" game and one of the key dates during the pre-Draft process. This year, the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl are being conducted during the same week w/ the Shrine game being played on Thurs evening, 2/3, in Vegas, while the Senior Bowl will be Sat afternoon, 2/5, in Mobile. The Shrine Bowl moved their date and location to compete w/ the Senior Bowl in terms of being the "premiere" All-Star game and even though they were able to land some decent Day 2 prospects, the Senior Bowl definitely has the names to watch.
Speaking of names to watch during Senior Bowl week, most of the top QB prospects (Pickett, Willis, Howell, Strong, Ridder, Zappe; only one not present is Matt Corral) are in Mobile this week to hopefully separate themselves in what's viewed as a "weak" overall QB draft class. If the Vikes trade Kirk during this offseason and we don't bring in anyone (other than a veteran bridge QB), we'll need to pay close attention to the QB prospects.
One of my goals of recapping some of the practice reports (there are a bunch out there) is twofold: 1) to document which players stood out in each report and then pinpoint which players have stood out across multiple reports to try and determine who stood out overall, and 2) to gain more knowledge on 2022 Draft prospects so when the Vikings draft a guy on Day 2/Day 3 we'll all hopefully know who that player is without having to do a bunch of research.
Day 1 Practice Reports:

5 standouts: Florida ST EDGE Jermaine Johnson II, Georgia LB Channing Tindall, Boston College IOL Zion Johnson, Liberty QB Malik Willis, South Carolina EDGE Kingsley Enagbare
Other: "Minnesota OT Daniel Faalele, the biggest player at the Senior Bowl at 6-foot-8, 387 pounds, struggled with a speedy pass rusher in Cincinnati's Myjai Sanders in pass rush drills."

Takeaways:
- Pickett was the talk of the town Monday, as he was the lone quarterback to not get his hands measured.
- Colorado St TE Trey McBride — PFF’s highest-graded tight end in college football in 2021 — shined on during the first day of practice.
- Florida ST EDGE Jermaine Johnson II is looking to make a case to be a first-rounder in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was undoubtedly one of the best players on the field for the Detroit Lions-led American Team. The 6-foot-4, 259-pound edge defender — whose arms measure in at over 34 inches — has the tools and put those into action during one-on-ones on Day 1.
- Georgia DT Devonte Wyatt was the most impactful interior defender in the Power Five and that held true in Day 1 of Senior Bowl practices.
- LSU DT Neil Farrell, Jr was the single-best run-stuffing interior defensive lineman in the Power Five this past season and that dominance against the run continued on the first day of Senior Bowl practices.
- Clemson CB Mario Goodrich was quietly one of the best cornerbacks in the country last season. During Day 1 of practices, Goodrich was the same physical, instinctive and fluid player.
- Baylor DB Jalen Pitre plays the game similar to former Notre Dame Fighting Irish rover Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. The Baylor Bear primarily manned the slot this past year and was an all-around weapon due to his explosiveness, physicality and play recognition. He earned a 92.7 run defense grade, 83.6 pass-rush grade and didn’t allow a touchdown in coverage while intercepting two passes and breaking up six others. All of those traits and that high-level play were on display during Day 1.

- Liberty QB Malik Willis; There’s a real argument to be made that he helped his stock more than anyone today. Willis was my QB1 entering the process. Certainly not a consensus take. If Willis keeps this up for the rest of the week, you’re going to see a lot more of that around the industry.
- NDSU WR Christian Watson; Another big winner today, Watson found a way to make a difference consistently on Tuesday – he’s begun chipping away at the narrative that he’s just a Marquez Valdes-Scantling one-utility deep-guy. If he keeps this up – and if he runs a high 4.3 or low 4.4 as has been rumored – he’s in play to go in the top-50.
- UTSA CB Tariq Woolen; Woolen is drawing buzz around Mobile – I heard his name from a small handful of people around the practice field today, all of whom like him. If you want to bet on upside, he’s your guy. But there’s a lot of work to be done.
- Baylor S Jalen Pitre; My gosh is this kid disruptive. Pitre is a junkyard dog. Today was part-and-parcel of what we saw on the field in Waco over the past three years. He’s undersized – a shade under 5-foot-11 and a shade under 200 pounds – but he’s got a place in the NFL.

Tony Pauline's Risers/Sliders from Day 1
- Risers: Sam Howell, QB, North Carolina; Dominique Robinson, EDGE, Miami (OH); Jalen Pitre, S, Baylor; Braylon Sanders, WR, Mississippi; Andrew Stueber, OL, Michigan; Tyler Badie, RB, Missouri; Braxton Jones, OT, Southern Utah; Danny Gray, WR, SMU; D’Vonte Price, RB, Florida International; Max Mitchell, OT, Louisiana
- Sliders: "With such an immense group of talented playmakers, the tight end group was largely disappointing. There was a flash from Grant Calcaterra in the receiving game, and Greg Dulcich was great with his run blocks. But overall, this group largely was less impressive than the group at the Shrine Bowl just days prior. Having been in attendance at both events, it was clear that the Shrine Bowl group of tight ends stood out among their peers. The Senior Bowl group blended in, faded away, and ultimately will need to do more through the rest of the week."

This is obviously a Steelers site, but it's one of my "go-to" sites for prospect write-ups because they have multiple people doing awesome X's/O's analysis on draft prospects and their notes are worth recapping each day, IMO.
