Set Teams
Let’s start with those teams that have a quarterback in place and are very unlikely to draft one in the early rounds of the 2022 class. That might be because the team has an established star or because they’ve recently drafted a quarterback and are still in the developmental stage with him and aren’t prepared to give up yet.
They are the: Bills, Patriots, Jets, Ravens, Bengals, Colts, Jaguars, Titans, Chiefs, Chargers, Cowboys, Bears, Cardinals, Rams, 49ers and Buccaneers.
I will agree that the Bills, Ravens, Bengals, Chiefs, Chargers, Cowboys, Cardinals and Rams could be considered "set" (unless happens)
That's 8 out of 32, or 25%. To say that the Jets, Jaguars, Bears and 49ers are "set" is a joke. The fact that you've spent Mega draft capital on a shiny new QB doesn't mean . It means that you bought a very expensive lottery ticket that pays off about 1 in 10 times. I would argue that we are more "set" because it is highly likely that we will again extend Kirk and he has consistently high performance. (ducking)
But Breaking down the rest of the varying levels of set, my categories are:
Has starting QB but would take a risk on the next Mahomes due to age or contract situation (7):
Vikings, Titans, Seahawks, Raiders, Eagles, Colts, Dolphins (maybe?)
Has an urgent need for an age / contract related succession plan (3)
Buccaneers, Packers, Falcons
Wishes their QB was better but may be tied to them for ... reasons (5)
Browns, Bears, Jets, Jaguars, 49ers (Because I don't know where else to put Lance)
Match being lit in the vicinity of a dumpster (8)
Saints, Steelers, Broncos, Washington, Lions, Panthers, Texans, Giants
