What would you do if you can't trade down? This isn't a loaded draft with guys worth moving up for. Maybe if Willis is there at 12 someone would get aggressive. Otherwise, I'm not so sure.
Totally agree on Stingley, him and the undersized center are probably the only 2 picks that would really anger me.
If Gardner is taken, I think you can't rule out a receiver. I'd kinda love that to be honest. We've been spoiled with Theilen, but it's coming to an end.
Devin Lloyd also might be worth considering... Barr is gone and Kendricks is getting older. Having a kid like this could make a big difference in a 3-4.
In terms of the WR position at #12, I feel that overall, Garrett Wilson, Drake London, Jameson Williams, Chris Olave and Treylon Burks are solid WR prospects, but I'm not sure they are worth the "value" at #12 considering you can probably get Jahan Dotson or George Pickens in Rd 2 - both of which aren't that far behind the Top 4 WR prospects in Rd 1.
The one thing I can't put my finger on is what type of WR O'Connell will want for the offense, both in 2022 and beyond. Personally, I don't think Smith-Marsette or Osborn will ever elevate to WR2 on the outside so I think they should look for a Top 100 WR that can play outside and can run the full route-tree and be a nice compliment to Jefferson and value someone like John Metchie III on Day 2 - Metchie doesn't have the "home run" ability of Jameson Williams, but he's a strong overall route-runner, solid hands, can play inside/outside and is a very willing blocker - sort of does it all and will be a solid WR2 pro, IMO. I'm also high on some early Day 3 prospects like Velus Jones, Jr (Tennessee) and Kyle Phillips (UCLA), too.
As far as Lloyd and LB at #12, I really like Lloyd - I saw this term somewhere early in the pre-Draft process and really feel it fits Lloyd well, "Field General" - however, I'm just not sure of the "value" of Lloyd at #12 when I think you can get Brandon Smith (Penn St) and Damone Clark (LSU) - two LB's I like (mostly because of their athleticism and their ability in coverage) - in the late 2nd to the mid-3rd. I'm just not sure I value Lloyd that much higher at #12 than Smith/Clark on Day 2. Plus, from what we've read so far of the Fangio/Donatell defense, it doesn't place a high emphasis on the ILB position as it likes to cater more to the DL and DB's w/ a "star" Safety zoning around in the middle of the field - hence why O'Connell made his comments early about how he thought Harrison Smith would fit in perfectly to Donatell's scheme...so if the LB positions don't take on too much value in that scheme, I don't think the Vikings would invest their 1st Rd pick there.
It's a tough call at #12 if Gardner and Johnson are both gone...
