TJ Watt missing basically the entire game vs the Vikings did make things a lot easier for our passing game, which is something Baker didn't get the privilege of - Watt recorded 5.5 sacks in his 2 games vs the Browns.
Yeah, I'd take Cousins' bad game over Baker's, but I still think we win that one with Mayfield.
Don't get me wrong, even Baker on a rebound is inferior to Kirk. It'd just depend what draft capital we're getting in return for eating all of Baker's guaranteed money. If we're going to take a step back in 2022, might as well get as many draft picks as possible and have a high spot in the 2023 draft.
You honestly think they will trade a former #1 pick for Kirk plus give us multiple meaningful draft picks?
I would think they would just use the picks to draft another QB if they were moving on from Baker. And especially since they can only get to .500 with Kirk.
Stefanski got to 10-6 with Kirk, and may think with a great OL/running game plus a stout defense, that may be enough to enable Kirk to do some damage. I could see that being their thought process.
Cleveland is built to win now, but you think they'll risk dipping into a weak QB class? They seemed to be primed to go for a veteran. If not Kirk, then possibly Garoppolo or Carr could be options.
