Kirk to Pittsburgh? Trade Cousins?

If you had said the same thing this time last year about Goff/Stafford, I'd have had a similar reaction. I wouldn't expect a Stafford type return, but the Browns are in a win now situation, Cousins is an upgrade and a decent fit given their OL, and Mayfield is not happy right now which like it or not is going to play into this (and hurt his value to Cleveland in a trade).

Those combinations lead to Mayfield likely going somewhere, not necessarily us, but somewhere. And there's nothing work speaking of to replace him in the draft. If the Browns choose not to commit to Baker, they're going to have to go after a vet via trade or FA, and the FA market is not that exciting either.

They are one of the teams that I think will need to make a trade, whether that's Jimmy G, Rodgers, Wilson, or Cousins.  Two of those 4 teams have ready replacements (Trey Lance and Jordan Love, though the shine on Love might be gone at this point) which either puts Mayfield on the block or makes it a lot harder trade him. Either way, it comes down to Mayfield's value in a trade, which certainly isn't close to the price a team would have to pay to get a #1 overall pick at this point. A contender is probably not interested, and a bad team isn't likely offering up significant capital to get him.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if Cleveland shipped Mayfield + picks away this offseason for a sure upgrade at the position. I doubt it would be 2 1sts like Stafford, but it won't be insignificant either. 

To add on to this Cleveland Hypothetical Trade, look at the value of the 2 Firsts the Rams sent out.  Using a draft value chart at Draftek:

Using the assumption that pick value = 1/2 value for the next year

Pick 31: 600 Points
2023 1st: (Pick 16 - 500pts) / 2 (next year) = 250 Points

Total of  750 Draft points right now.  However the trade was made well before the 2021 draft, so that should be decreased by half again.  If the expect value at the time of the trade was a late 2022 1st + a TBD 2023 first that would be more like
Pick 26 = 700 / 2 = 350
2023 1st: (Pick 16 - 500pts) / (2*2) (2 years out) = 125 Points

Those two firsts were only worth about 475 points when the trade was made in 2022. 

If Cleveland gives up their #13 overall pick in this year's draft, that is 1150 pts, far more valuable than what the Rams gave up for Stafford.  If Mayfield ~= Goff, then Cleveland's 2022 1st + 2023 1st would be worth
2022 = 1150
2023 = 700 / 2 = 350 (Same assumption as the Rams)
Total = 1500

Or add in Cleveland's #44 pick = 460 pts

So Cleveland has far more draft ammo to go QB hunting than the Rams did.  

I’m all for winning more games i just don’t see a more viable option available to us at this time… If Kenny Pickett is available in the first take him and let him sit and learn till you can afford to cut/trade Cousins.

I'd laugh like hell if they traded Cousins to Tampa and he won a Super Bowl next year. I mean that would be the icing on the cake.

I continue to hope for a trade. I was shocked by this stat when I saw it…Kirk will be the league’s 3rd oldest starting QB next year behind Rodgers and Ryan. Why do we want the third oldest QB with a roster with plenty of bad draft picks and contracts along with young first time coach/GM?

I’ve come to a new team that I don’t think enough people are talking about for a trade. Carolina Panthers. Matt Rhule is one more bad season from being fired. They can’t keep wasting seasons with CMac as one of the top offensive weapons in the league. They need to trade Darnold 18 mill cap hit but 0 dead if they trade him according to OTC. The biggest problem is lack of draft capital that Carolina has due to failed Darnold and CB trades.

So how do we feel about these two options:

Kirk for Darnold, a high 4th round pick this year, and the 2nd round comp that could turn into a first like Wentz.
Or
Kirk and pick 12 for Darnold, pick 6, and a 3rd rounder next year.

I like both options more than a Cleveland trade that is also possible because Darnold isn’t some huge distraction nor is he anything besides salary cap filler and bridge QB.

First, Brady isn't the greatest ever. Maybe the best in the last 30 years, but I have other who I think are better. Second, Brady didn't win this year but did last year. And third, how is that loser named Stafford doing in LA?
