Let's get it out of the way and avoid any of these or their related ilk:
1. "The Vikings have lost x number of games by y points or less this year."
Yes, a lot of NFL games are close. If a team wins most of the close ones, they're a winner, if not, a loser. There is no "Championship only for games with a big lead at the end".
2. "They played good enough to win in the second half."
So what? The game is 60 minutes. Do you really want to add up how this team has performed in the 2nd half all year??
3. "The Vikings only lost because they have so many injured players."
This one is such a bore. They have injuries every year. Every team does. Build a deeper roster. Get coaches that can adjust their scheme to the strengths of their players, not succeed only with the "perfect fit".
4. "Cousins balled out in the second half."
This guy is infuriating because he obviously could win more games - but he takes the safe route too often. He threw away at least one possible TD in the 2nd quarter because it looked dangerous. He has completely committed to minimal INTs in his stat line, probably because he figured out this team is not going to succeed, but if he doesn't generate turnovers, other teams will believe it isn't Cousins' fault. I guarantee you he will be home sipping champagne tonight with his wife, saying, "My score today was 2-0, another big contract coming soon!"
What other tired pointless excuses can we just dump into this thread and have them done??
