What are the projected salaries of the top QBs over the next 5 years. Those are the ones that are important. The rest is in the past.

Do you think players like Jackson, Hebert, Allen, Mahomes, Dak, Rodgers, Burrow and Murray will all sign contracts for less than Kirk?

Will their fan bases want to replace them with an unproven rookie to save money?

I’m looking forward at what the QB salary range will look like over the next 5 years to see whether the guys who are cheaper than Kirk now will be cheaper than him as they sign their next contract. You are correct that over the last 3 years his salary has been over what it should be. But it’s the price it took. He actually took less money to come here than the Jets we’re going to pay.

And I wasn’t a fan of signing him to that contract. Not even close.

But he has produced above what I ever expected and I believe if he would be given stability at OC and stability on the OL that he would be even better. I’m not any sort of invested fan of his and if we had a QB who was on the roster that beat him out fair and square I would have no problem walking away but I keep seeing fans want to get rid of him and I haven’t seen a single name given for who this cheaper replacement would be who could match his production at a bargain price.

He is the best we've had in a long time and the 1st to stay healthy 4 straight seasons as well. However it hasn't made us a success. Barring a miracle we will be looking at missing the playoffs 3 of 4 years. There is just something not complete about him. Without obviously blaming him totally for this current situation. Look at when we've had opportunities and he came up short. Home to a skeleton crew of Bears in 2018. Then with the division on the line at home to Green Bay 2019. Big moments. Small showings. His record against +.500 teams and prime time is what it is.

So yes he's the best we've had but that's probably as much our failures and not necessarily his successes with addressing the position. If this is his last year here I'm fine with that. If he's here next year it means we either extended him again or paid the ridiculous salary for next year at the expense of other positions. Then will he carry us then?

The cousins debate will never be settled. The guy gets more hate than anyone. I dont really care for him, but he is far from the problem THIS year and if anything hes been one of the bright spots on this team along with Jefferson. Regardless of it being the lions, still a division game he brought the team back got the go ahead TD with under 2 min left. The only logical debate should be is he worth his play at his contract NEXT year at 45 million. This is the only debate period. I dont care stats, I dont care does his teammates like him, thats the question. My answer to that question is no way. So what do you do ? Go into the rabbit hole again and extend him to reduce costs and try and "keep the window open" ? No the experiment should be over with. Kirk, Zim, and Rick. So youll say we havent had a QB as good as him a long time. Yeah that probably is correct but its still a team game at the end of the day, as we are seeing this year. If Kirk wants to get paid 20 million a year im all for that, will prove he wants to win and build something here and would gain a ton of respect from teammates future teammate etc. You dont build a team around Kirk Cousins as a 45 million dollar contract. Our rest of the team isnt that good to be able to do that. We would have to hit on drafts every year for 1-2 years in order for us to be a legit contender. I wouldnt mind letting him play out his contract next year for that 45 million with a new coaching staff, since ppl tend to think that is the only issue and see what happens. I still dont think our defense next year would be good enough to compete. My ultimate dream would be to start over HC/QB/GM you could realistically turn this thing around in 2 years we still have some good core pieces.

I don't see how a 2nd rounder is huge win but the cap space would definitely help the new coach assemble his kind of team and give him a clean slate to build from. Maybe that's how you meant it?? Kirk is doing good numbers wise in this system. He could be baggage unwanted in a different one.
