So he's likely under control with Baltimore for at least 1 more season at a very good price, or the Ravens can offer him up as trade bait to a team wanting to take a shot this offseason (NYG, WFT, etc).

No, Vegas has one more year of him for $19.8M with zero dead money. He will probably ask for an extension since that's chump change for QBs these days.

Huntley will accrue his first year in the NFL this season, and will then become an ERFA (exclusive rights free agent) in 2022 and in 2023 (which allows the Ravens to sign him for dirt cheap and Huntley has no other option but to accept), then a RFA (restricted free agent) in 2024, and finally a UFA in 2025. Players with under 3 years of experience cannot hit the open market unless their team releases them into it.

If you need an example, check out our past safety Anthony Harris - he spent his first year on the practice squad, then year 2 was on the active roster. He was then a ERFA in Years 3 and 4, and an RFA in year 5. He did not hit full free agency until the 6th year of his career.

Can be a little off-putting in the Locker Room if you're in the faces of your Teammates about it. I heard Carr was early on then learned to reign it in a bit.

Rivers was uber religous but apparently not in anyone's face about it.

On a less serious note, am I the only one that thinks Carr looks like he's wearing eye liner?

Im sure another team will give him a chance if the Raiders dont kinda like a Sam Darnold. Why would we want to continue on this path of trying to sign a free agent QB that hasnt worked besides a HOFer in Favre. Best way to do it is a QB on a rookie deal, and building a team.

Well I didn't want to really trade for Carr... I was kind of hoping the raiders would cut them hypothetically... Then we could trade Kirk take that return and reinvest it while signing Carr...

For me as far as the rookie goes that never works for us first of all second of all I think the team has too much talent to risk drafting a possible bust... We only got one or two more years left with Dalvin Cook and Adam Thielen at their peak performance.

Plus this QB class looks terrible...

Yeah I mean no way they are going to trade for Carr was assuming cut and sign..The only time we ever tried it was with Ponder and that QB class was terrible in the first round so not like we made a wrong choice and missed even though he was a reach then. I just dont see what the value of Carr is over Kirk. Not talking about switching Rodgers with Kirk. Carr would likely get a pretty decent contract if he were to hit free agency was my point your not going to get him for cheap. Yes we still have talent on the offense that is why we are in a tough situation but at the same we have been hanging on since 2017 with this team. We have doubled down every year and have accomplished nothing with it at some point you have to let it go. Is it just a simple coaching thing that would suddenly make us contenders next year? Im done with Zim but I dont think it is as simple as that. The only person the Vikings should be worried about pleasing is jefferson at this point. Even then no one man is bigger than the team. I really dont know the solution and glad I dont have to make it to be honest lol

I have an opinion about that but expressing such doesn't really keep us on the football track. FSUVike is probably correct about how much a person says about it being the most critical thing. It's like a good exchange I heard in a movie: "Do you have any advice?" "Yes, don't give any."

I guess the question is: for Patrick Peterson, Everson Griffen, Sheldon Richardson and a few others on D who may have been somewhat influenced to sign with Minnesota due to Zimmer (not entirely because of Zimmer, mind you, but his presence did seem to play a part), will they want to resign with Minnesota this coming offseason if Zimmer isn't the Head Coach anymore?

Griffen and Richardson didn't count much against the team's cap in 2021 and if they came back on similar 1-yr deals in 2022, I don't think too many people would have an issue (if some younger players look really good in the Spring/TC/preseason, then we just cut the vets loose)...

...but Peterson didn't come too cheap in 2021; his cap hit was $8m and while he's arguably our best CB, that's not saying much when our CB room has played like garbage this season. Overthecap has his 2021 valuation at $2.5m (link) and his PFF grades, while Ok, haven't exactly been great or elite.

While things are surely going to change in regards to Kirk's and Hunter's contract this offseason, at this point in time the Vikes 2022 cap is very tight and if Peterson is going to continue to demand yearly deals that count $6m-$8m against the cap, I'm not so sure how good of a deal that is. He's probably entering the "T Newman" phase of his career and Newman signed with us on 1-yr deals in the $2m-$3m range, which is where Peterson probably should realistically be.
