What They're Saying...
Poor Lions fans. Hopefully our Vikes don't find a way to cheer them up!

What They're Saying...
They whupped us twice last year. Don't see that changing much... But if Urban Meyer can survive the 'Serial Groping Video" I guess anything can happen.
I'll be at the game. Almost reluctantly now.
Oopha. I don't think I've been less interested in a Lions game in over a decade.
I'm going to watch. Hope Springs eternal that some obscure player.. hopefully one we signed from our practice squad, or signed from another teams squad... rises from the Practice Squad Scrap Heap and delivers a special performance that etches itself into Lion Fan History... I think that is what we are relegated to now for the rest of this season. Looking at the bright side we might just be the team that holds the record for most losses in a 16 game schedule and a 17 game Schedule. I see it as a very doable thing. Like it or not, it's an accomplishment. It's not easy to lose 17 games in a row
Sorry but you just have to laugh at this point.
So this is now their top 3 O-linemen, their top receiver, their two best D-linemen, their highly drafted CB and then the next highest drafted CB all out for an extended period of time. Yeah I know that injuries are a part of football but this is absurd. The positive is that they’ve been competitive (for now) despite all this.

0-5
We’re on our way!
We’re on our way!
This season is all about reps and on-the-job training for players and coaches alike.
If Sewell’s out, let’s see what they have as far as a swing tackle. It’s all fodder for the future.

0-17 here we come!!!
Sigh..... another road loss for the Lions
The beatings are going to continue for a long, long time. This might be the worst team that I can remember as far as talent level.
This could be the worst team in the NFL... EVER.
The team is pretty much a known commodity at this point. I hope they don't go running to the FA market this year (beyond filling in for an injury) and let this play out. Find some starters in the draft.
The queens might just sneak this one away from the lions.
206 days, only 206 days away.

If the NFL is a passing league, let's take a look at the three-deep receiving corps.
Quintez Cephus (5th round 2020) - 32 career catches
Kalif Raymond (UDFA 2016, Lions are his fifth team) - 33 career catches
Trinity Benson (UDFA 2019) - 6 career catches
Amon-Ra St. Brown (4th round 2021) - 12 career catches
KhaDarel Hodge (UDFA 2018) - 19 career catches
Tom Kennedy (3rd round 2018...by Boston...in lacrosse) - twelve snaps, no catches.
So that's, what, 102 NFL catches for the whole active roster? Tyrell Williams, UDFA 2015 and in the concussion protocol, has almost twice that. Hockenson is going to get a lot of attention.

John McKay on Tampa Bay ending its 26-game losing streak: "Three or four plane crashes and we're in the playoffs."
I loved his quote when asked about his teams execution - "I'm in favor of it"
1976 quotes . Tampa Bay went 0-26 to start their franchise ( back when they played a 14 game season) then they won their last two games. By 1979 they made the NFC championship game. They have won two Superbowls while the Lions have been in ONE nfc championship game since 1957.
Another fact to make you realize just how much suffering it is to be a Lions fan.

I remember the 80s and it seemed like the three worst teams were the Lions, Bucs and Packers.
Post Billy Sims 80’s Froot Loops. The 1980-1983 teams were exciting then Billy tore his ACL and we went back to hell until Barry came along in 1989.
The Lions actually BEAT the Ravens who everyone in the NFL is pumping right now. Were it not for some crazy red-zone antics they would have, and honestly should have, beaten the Bears. I get the angst, because of the historical and current bad luck- when you have 2 Hall of Fame players retire in their prime rather than continue with your franchise, that sucks. But still.... it will get better
I know this team isn’t fantastic by any stretch of the imagination but we were an inch from beating one of the better teams in the league with the Ravens and the Bears game was a f’ing fluke. We’re destined to be a top 10 pick but this team is far from worst team ever. That’s getting dramatic
Should've's, Would've's, Could've's, Maybe's, If's, And's n But's. When the W column looks like a bottlecap, you haven't beaten anybody yet.
Lions right now look like that guy bobbing for apples.
Haven't quite got the technique down yet, you just hope more apples are there to take a bite out of this season.

No one wants to miss games against the Lions defense. sh*t. Justin Fields turned one if the worst ever outings and not being ready into a starting job based off the power of like 4 throws to wide the f*ck open guys thanks to this defense.
I just hope they actually get a few more opportunities.
This is a team that needs the other team to come down to their level and match them for the Lions to have a chance.
Bears are at our level, and the Lions were just too formidable of an opponent for the Bears to get that L....

The presumption that this team will get better doesn't follow, because as of this moment, the team is getting WORSE with each successive week.
They are getting worse from a standpoint of established players getting hurt but the on-field performance is better in some ways and worse than others from week 1. Being over-dramatic and pessimistic about a small sample size doesn't make you right.
The idea that they'll be better as the season goes does follow based on the fact that the majority of the team is 26 and under. This isn't a team of vets like the 08 Lions who were athleticism capped. It's kids that aren't playing up to their potential yet and still learning the pro game. One would assume that at least some of them will improve through experience and thus so will the team over time.
