This is such an obvious Trap Game that you WANT to think the Vikings will be ready. But they have a history of playing deflated football in critical situations and I don't trust that the coaches can get the players to avoid thinking Detroit is an easy win that they don't have to worry about. We'll see.
This is a critical situation? I find that odd, since whenever this team beats > .500 teams like the Lions, I always hear "that didn't mean anything, they just beat a bad team"... but if they lose then it was a "critical" game. It seems like a lot of hand-wringing for the team that has been the best in the NFL at beating up on bad teams. Sure, they lose about one trap game a year (2018 Buffalo, 2020 Atlanta, maybe 2020 Dallas), but they are very consistent taking out the trash.
Is it a double standard to say it doesn't prove much if, instead, they win? Sure, to a degree. But that's always the case with easier assignments: if you can't even pass a basket-weaving class, it tells everyone you didn't even care (or show up).
As you say, Zimmer usually handles the weak teams, so it shouldn't be an issue. (But...if they don't, what does that mean? Couldn't resist asking..)
If we win... It don't even feel good, it's the god damn Lions.
