Well, I think you're counting your chickens before they hatch  - or your money while you're sitting at the table, whichever you prefer - if you put him in that group with 4 games to go. Think it's impossible for him to chuck up 5 or more INTs in the next month? 

But is he becoming a better QB - or having an outlier year? After all, Case Keenum made a far more impressive leap forward in 2017 than Cousins has done this year, but the Vikings decided it was just a fluke season. 

Agreed.  One of those QBs was a huge part of his team winning 13 games and making it to the NFCCG, the other has never won the NFCN or gotten past the divisional round.

Even when failing to find an elite franchise QB, it still worked out in the short term for those franchises.  It might not have gone too poorly long term either, but both Philly and LA chose to make a move that truly does ruin franchises: Overpay a limited QB like he is top 5.  Oakland and Detroit did the same and look at where they are at.  It just never works out.  Ever.

As for other significant draft day trades for QBs that we pretty much know already how they will work out:

1. Love - The QB hasn't worked out for the Packers, but their franchise seems to be just fine. +
2. Darnold - They ended up getting a 2nd (from Carolina for Darnold) and 3rd (were able to trade away Teddy) back and were a terrible franchise before and after trading up for Darnold. =
3. Josh Allen - Speaks for itself ++
4. Rosen - Terrible pick that resulted in them getting Kyler.  +
5. Mitch Trubiskey - have made the playoffs more with with him starting than the Vikings with Cousins.  +
6. Lamar Jackson - MVP who has never missed the playoffs ++
7. Mahomes - Speaks for itself ++
8. Watson - Speaks for itself ++
9. Goff - Made the SB shortly after this trade.  Is it easier to succeed paying a mediocre QB on a rookie salary versus paying an above average one like he is elite? +
10. Wentz - Was on his way to being the MVP prior to his injury and was a large part in Philly getting a bye and getting to the SB. Philly won the SB 2 years after this trade. ++
11. Lynch - Horrible QB.  -
12. Johnny Manzeil - Horrible QB drafted mostly with other team's picks.  =
13. Teddy Bridgewater - Rookie of the year, won his division in his second season. +
14. RG3 - The R words were bad before RG3, and were bad after = 
15. Tim Tebow - Not a good QB, but the Broncos did get better moving on from the above average Jay Cutler despite not finding a QB replacement for him.  A couple of years later they were one of the best teams in the NFL. A blue print for the Vikings? +
16. Mark Sanchez - Mediocre QB but the Jets did get better after the trade. +
17. Blaine Gabbert - Bad QB, franchise was bad before him, was bad after =

Of the past 17 trades where a team moved up to get a QB, I am only seeing one team get worse after making that trade.  Most got better and a few didn't improve.  Looking past those 17 there is a SB winner among the 12 as well as a dog killer, but most sucked.  Maybe your thoughts on trading up for a QB are just outdated?

You lost credibility here a long time ago, but I did not say those were both good trades.  That is something you made up in your head.  The Eagles won their only SB in large part because of that trade for Wentz and it is tough to argue it didn't work out for them, but the Rams would have likely had just as much or more success if they had not made that trade.  Maybe they draft Mahomes in 2017 if they don't make that trade for Goff, or maybe they draft Turdbuiscit and still lose to the Pats in the SB.  

I was arguing your point that trading up for a QB was likely to set this franchise back significantly.  More than paying Cousins and passing over better, cheaper QBs all these years has.  

Try to stick to arguing the points made from now on, not your imaginary, strawman ones.  

The offense as it sits right now is 5th in yards per play and people wanna replace the QB... This is crazy to me.

Kirk Cousins is #1 in deep passer rating and never 4 by the PFF deep ball thrower metric...

Let's just fix the defense... and coach the game better.... Jesus Christ... Smh
