On paper, you have just two "marquee" games of ranked teams facing off against each other (ND vs WIS and A&M vs ARK), but I do think there are some other intriguing matchups on the Week 4 schedule. After putting my foot in my mouth the last 2 weeks, I'm not going to make any predictions on which teams "should" win their games comfortable because it's been a pretty wild, entertaining and unpredictable college season so far - just the way I like it!
Friday, 9/24
Wake Forest @ Virginia - 7PM ET
Wake Forest is surprisingly 3-0 and Virginia is off to a decent start, too, only losing to North Carolina last week. The Demon Deacons blasted FSU last week and both teams have been turning out offense so far this season, so this very well could be a very high scoring, entertaining ACC game. I honestly don't know any 2022 prospects from either team but I believe some will emerge in this game, especially on offense.
Liberty @ Syracuse - 8PM ET
Under normal circumstances, no one outside of alumni of either school would give this game any attention - especially on Friday night. But Liberty has a 2022 1st Rd QB prospect named Malik Willis who is basically this year's version of Trey Lance. Liberty shocked Syracuse last year, which is arguably how Willis came to garner national attention as a 2022 QB prospect to watch and this game is on national TV on ESPN - all the eyes of the sports universe will be on this one to watch him. Let's see how he looks.
UNLV @ #22 Fresno State - 10PM ET
UNLV is 0-3 and Fresno St is a really good team this year so I can't imagine the Runnin' Rebels will give Fresno St much of a game. The Fresno St. QB, Jeff Haener - who's been playin' lights out this season, is the reason to watch. He's undersized which may limit his 2022 Draft ceiling to Day 2 (more likely Day 3), but the comeback win @ UCLA was week was special. He could be the one to have a Zach Wilson type of season that comes out of nowhere.
Saturday, 9/25
LSU @ Miss St - Noon ET
Both SEC West teams are 2-1 and both have some 2022 Draft prospects to check out - especially LSU's 1st Rd CB (Stingley, Jr) and their interior OL (both OG's are 2022 Draft prospects). This should be a solid game to watch if you don't care for the Notre Dame @ Wisconsin game.
#12 Notre Dame @ #18 Wisconsin - Noon ET
One of the two "marquee" games on Saturday. ND is undefeated but has looked very vulnerable and Wisconsin would like nothing better than to avenge their Week 1 loss to Penn St at home vs a Top 15 team. This should be a very entertaining matchup to watch.
#7 Texas A&M @ #16 Arkansas - 3:30PM ET
This game is at "Jerry's World" in Dallas and this one should also be a very entertaining game. Both teams have plenty of 2022 Draft prospects, especially A&M along both OL & DL. This should have been the ABC primetime game.
#9 Clemson @ NC State - 3:30PM ET
Clemson has beat NC State eight straight times and under previous years, this game would have been a cakewalk for Clemson. But NC State has a very good running game with 2 dynamics RB's (similar to North Carolina last season) and Clemson has been offensively challenged - being held to 7 pts vs Georgia and only 14 pts by Georgia Tech. If NC State can have success on the ground at home, they could upset Clemson. Definitely an upset alert game.
West Virginia @ #4 Oklahoma - 7:30PM ET
In recent seasons, this game wouldn't be close as Oklahoma would just run circles around most BIG XII competitors w/ their 1st Rd QB's. But Spencer Rattler - who entered 2021 as a Rd 1 QB prospect - isn't exactly lighting it up like Mayfield, Murray and Hurts have in the past and needs to have a good primetime performance vs a solid West Virginia team who beat up a ranked Virginia Tech team last week. Let's see how good Rattler is under the lights and let's see if Oklahoma is really Playoff material or not because they have also looked vulnerable this season.
