Talking Points
The Vikings were well prepared today and and had a good game plan both offensively and defensively.
The problem today and what contributed to the loss was a few individual payers underperformed today. A few of them need to be benched and our cut.
Along with a few major coaching decisions at crucial times cost us this game. Even though we outplayed the cardinals today and should have won the game.
I will also list the players that overperformed and some that underperformed.
Overperformers
QB Cousins. Accurate most of the day, better pocket presence, got the ball out quicker and avoided sacks.
RB Cook over 100 yards rushing, played hurt at the end.
WR Osborn clutch catches on the last drive, the player that has improved the most from last year
WR Theilin came up with some crucial catches and a TD
G Uldi saw him moving people off the line, nice to see from our G play.
G Cleavland had a good game, Watt was silent most of the game. No penalties
DT Pierce had another good game
Hunter back to normal, 3 sacks on Murray, I don,t think any player will do that this year again.
Vigil was all over the place, nice interception for a TD. Playing better than Barr
CB Danzler came in at a crucial time and batted a potential TD throw in the endzone away, great coverage at a crucial time. He needs to be starting for Breeland.
Underperformers
TE Conklin
DT Tomilson needs to do better stopping the run, needs to be out on any potential passing plays, no ability to pressure QB from inside.
DE Wonnum needs to do better and help Hunter with pass rush and sacks. Needs to improve run defense.
Breeland got burnt often again. Playing 10 yards off the WR Green when the Cards were at about the 10 yard line. Threw in front of him and he missed the tackle. Terrible play. He needs to be benched. I have seen enough of him starting. Not good enough to start. Dime back only.
FG Joseph. missed extra point, missed 34 yard field goal to win it. Bing reason we lost today. He should be cut tomorrow, to send a message to all the players that are starting, you either perform well and as expected or you will be benched or cut. In this case due to the severity of his bad play he needs to be cut.
He is at least 75% of the blame for this loss. He needs to be held accountable and be cut.
Bad coaching decisions that were a factor in the loss
OC needs to call better plays on 3rd down. I think the offense only converted 2 or 3 of 10 or 12 on third downs today. Play calling is not good enough in crucial situations.
HC choosing to do a swive kick right before half with under a minute giving the Cards good field position with less than a minute. instead of kicking it deep into end zone. This lead to the cards scoring points right before the half
Same series the cards have no time outs, 3rd and long, all you have to do is have the CB's protect the sidelines and tackle WR in bounds after the catch. The half would have been over. Instead they let the WR have an easy catch, and gain about 10 or 15 yards after the catch and go out of bounds, with all the CB's and safety's out of position to make the tackle in bounds. Cards get more points right before the half.
HC not going for it on 4th and 1 late in the game. Playing not to lose instead of playing to win
HC, DC allowing 14 points within 2 minutes of the half. Poor scheme, design and defensive play calling at the last 2 minutes end of the half.
Lastly
Barr & Darisaw needs to get ready to play and on the field and contribute to the team. ASAP
If Darisaw can't go they need to sign Russel Okund or another upgrade LT until he gets back
