I didn't mind the Trae Waynes selection, as I am on board building a defense from the corners in, but as soon as I saw him play live, I didn't believe he had the skills to cover in the NFL.
Nice post overall, the only place we differ is CB. You build your teams on the trenches first. CBs come later because no matter how good a CB is he can only stay with a guy so long. If you don't get pressure a lot of these QBs will find somebody open eventually regardless. You can't even start at QB because a QB will lose confidence if he getting hit every play pressure bust pipes. Start on the trenches both sides when team building. When you get that go get your QB and then skill guys to have long term success. Obviously you want to multitask and do these simultaneously, but build inside out IMO.
My mantra is "corners in," but don't take it from me; take it from one of John Madden's books.
Defensive ends, middle linebacker, ... all are important. But none of them matter if the receiver already has the ball 12 yards down the field because coverage is poor. Madden has one of the highest winning percentages in NFL history for good reason.
