Over/Under on Zimmer getting fired

I fully expect it to happen. Rick will dump Zimmer to save his job and we will continue to have a team that isn't good enough for at least a couple of more seasons as the new HC is given a chance to turn things around.

Zimmer was a Rick hire, was the guy Rick continued to stick with all these years. Rick is the guy who put the team together that clearly isn't good enough, but Rick will survive because he is just that good...at BSing the Wilfs.

I don't know enough about that to even give you an answer, but hopefully someone on here who actually does could help out with that.  I do think Cook is at his best running behind a zone blocking scheme, so there is that.

At that point it is  really no longer an on the field issue, GM issue, HC. Its an ownership issue.
i dont know how anybody with any sense at all can look at the roster, and the lack of talent up and down, and how woefully inadequate it is and keep spielman. Forget the fact that every qb you have touched is a miss. Pretty much entire draft classes have been misses. Entire FA classes are misses. Then their is the coaching which changed over pretty much every year except the HC.

The idea that the reason to keep either of them is because it could be worse? ARE YOU KIDDING? Only if your model of hiring is a mediocre DC/OC as hc and a previous GM who ruined two other franchises. ITS NUTS!

Your oline blow, your run and pass defense suck, your qb sucks and that is your starters. You dont dare put in the backups. Anywhere.  And you prove my point. ITS ON THE OWNERSHIP.

The OL players that would be most exposed to a sudden shift in OL blocking schemes (since we run over 70% zone-blocking on rushing attempts using Funkytown 's post above) are O'Neill, Bradbury and Ezra, mostly because those three were at the top of their Draft classes in terms of athleticism, which we favor. Darrisaw and Davis didn't perform full athletic testing #'s and although both were considered fits for zone-blocking due to their tape, we don't have the athletic testing #'s from their Pro Days to compare and know for certainty.

I would think that if we brought in a new OL staff for 2022+ and shifted OL blocking philosophies, we wouldn't just shift completely from over 70% zone-blocking to over 70% man/power/gap scheme - it would be something probably more along the lines of the hybrid 50/50 approach and then over the course of a few seasons you might see a more heavy shift one way or the other.

Bradbury is probably the player most "exposed" to a shift to man/power/gap because of his history of poor anchoring and ability to handle his guy 1-on-1. He did make strides in Wk 2 so we'll see how he looks after the 2021 season, but if he still can't hold his ground for the most part at the end of 2021, it will be time to look at a new starting C for 2022+ while possibly bringing in a veteran free agent. And if things continue to trend "down" for Bradbury after 2021, there's no way the Vikes will pick up his 5th yr option in the 2022 offseason (for 2023) and his last season in purple will likely be 2022 and we could possibly look to trade him and get back a Day 3 draft pick in return and save some cap on his 4th yr salary.

What well designed scheme is that? How are they covering up for their below average OL play? Darnold getting the ball out of his hand quicker?
