From a purely logical standpoint, Zimmer should be on the Hot Seat. NFL Analysts and even Vegas believe he is. He gets everything he asks for in the offseason to fix his Defense. Especially against the run. And still can't stop the run, most glaringly in crucial down and distance.
And the Offense that was utterly lacking in rhythm in the Preseason comes out and fails to establish the run against the Team that's been the worst at defending it over the last two years.
Losing both Lines of Scrimmage against one of the weaker Opponents they'll see all Season along the tranches.
And it will only get worse. Arizona just thumped a Playoff Team on the Road. Seattle has a shiny new OC that actually looks like he knows what he's doing. Cleveland is already humming on Offense against KC.
0-4 is logically a realistic expectation. With how random the NFL can be 1-3 is probably more likely. But would either be enough for the Whiffs to fire him and/or Rick? I doubt it.
And that's the problem. Ownership. Too afraid of the Total Rebuild. Too complacent with mediocrity to below averageish year after year with an occasional flash on the Playoffs.
So I predict Mike will survive the whole season, no matter how badly it goes. No matter how many times he makes terrible challenges. No matter how often he mismanages the clock. No matter how many times his team comes out totally flat to start a game. No matter how many times he fails to get his OC to implement a quick-passing Gameplan to offset the leaky pass protection.
This will be a long, ugly season.
